Xenia Fish Fry, 08.28.10!

Posted by on Sunday, August 29th, 2010 @ 9:48 pm.

XENIA---It may sound like a little get-together that a family might participate in, but in Xenia (which sits partly in Wayne County, partly in Clay), this annual fish fry is a big deal! That's because this is put on by the volunteer firefighters, in order ot benefit their work in the community, and folks are grateful to have them there and support the cause.

One of the biggest events of the fest is the motocross (called Arenacross in this venue). Here are several shots of some of the participants and their moves.

Holeee cow! That's some height!

At least there was a bit of shade for the Arenacross spectators...although the weather was very cooperative for the event.

Above, the ever-popular inflatables for the kids; most assuredly, a shoeless feat....

No southern Illinois fest would be complete without a bouncehouse full of kids!

The whole event is staged behind the Xenia Grade School, which is as good a place as any to pitch a few fast balls at the dunking booth...

And heeeeeeeere's the pitch!

There were pony rides courtesy this little filly...

We'll have even more photos in the upcoming issue of Disclosure, on stands 09.13.10! Get yours in Clay County at Needmore Store, Louisville; Empty Pockets, Iola; Party House in Flora and The Price is Right, Clay City!
