Accused serial murderer Bruce Mendenhall trial date set, at least for one in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn–Bruce Mendenhall, the 58-year-old former Albion resident who has been dubbed the “Truck-stop Killer” and other typical mainstream ‘murderer’ nicknames, has had a trial date set in Tennessee, where he’s charged with two of four alleged murders: March 1, 2010.

Bruce Mendenhall
Mendenhall was arrested on Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Nashville, Tenn., after investigators discovered his truck parked at a Nashville truck stop and, inside the cab, plenty of blood and bloodied items.
The discovery was made shortly after the death of Sara Hulburt, 25, whose body was found at another area truck stop shortly before Mendenhall’s arrest.

Mendenhall was charged with Hulbert’s death, and shortly thereafter was also charged in the murder of another prostitute, this one in Wilson Co., Tenn., Symantha Winters, 48.

Symantha Winters (yet another mugshot, yet another prostitution arrest)
Mendenhall, a long-haul trucker, was subsequently charged in two other ‘truck-stop’ murders, Lucille Marie ‘Greta’ or ‘Gretna’ (both names have been used) Carter, 44 (also a prostitute), in Birmingham, Alabama, and Carma Purpura, 31, in Marion County, Indiana (Indianapolis; it’s not been readily established whether Purpura was a prostitute or not). Trial dates have not been set in either of those cases nor in Winters’.
Mendenhall has sort of dropped off the radar in the ensuing time period, until it was announced by Nashville-area prosecutors that a trial date has finally been set.
Mendenhall’s arrest and alleged confessions of killing women, mostly prostitutes, while on the road, sparked a huge number of people shouting that they just knew Bruce had done in their missing/dead loved one, and many people believe that he’s responsible for the deaths of some women dating back to the 1990s. Disclosure, however, believes differently. That’s because Mendenhall has sort of a bizarre status around the Disclosure office, as he had written a letter to this newsmagazine which appeared in the March 2006 issue and which was reprinted after his arrest. His defense team was so intrigued by it that they stopped by the Disclosure office shortly thereafter, wanting a copy of the letter…to which they were told ‘sure…with a subpoena.’
The subpoena, incidentally, never arrived. We’ll see what happens as his case proceeds to trial.
The letter, as it turned out, was a sort of preview into Mendenhall’s psyche, and outlined a possible reason why he (allegedly) decided to reduce the world’s population of prostitutes (or at least chicks who hung out in truck stops). A key focus of the letter happened to be former Edwards County prosecutor Brian Shinkle.

Brian Shinkle, who thinks he's a winner, but in reality he's just the opposite.
To find out just what part Shinky played in the whole mess, pick up the July issue of Disclosure, where we’ll review the whole Mendenhall thing, along with maybe some new info.
