One of these guys is Raymond's new attorney, John O'Gara. Probably the one on the left. The other is his law partner, James Gomric.
BENTON—Looks like it’s a go for Raymond Martin, Gallatin County sheriff, to kick off his federal trial April 12.
According to court documents signed today by U.S. Magistrate Philip M. Frazier, Martin is still on track to have his federal drugs/weapons/conspiracy/witness tampering trial start Monday, April 12, at 9 a.m. before Judge Gilbert in Benton.
Martin had an arraignment (advisement of charges against him) today on the superseding indictment that was filed last week, which added several counts to his already-existing indictment. The counts involved witness tampering by use of physical force, conspiracy to tamper with witnesses in a federal case, and witness tampering by attempting to intimidate, threaten, and corruptly persuade witness not to testify (somewhere in there is buried the actual charge of attempting to hire two men, Thomas Hayden and Kevin Brown, to kill two federal witnesses against Martin, Jeremy Potts and David Woods. Legalese. Whatcha gonna do.)

Martin, in usual form, entered a plea this morning of not guilty to all 15 counts he’s facing.
He now has a new attorney, one John O’Gara of Belleville, who has an impressive resume` and probably has a pretty good success rate, as he’s considered one of the top ‘white-collar crime’ defense lawyers in that judicial hellhole known as St. Clair County (Metro-East St. Louis).
However, it might be noted that O’Gara has been appointed to Martin’s case as a public defender, so the attorney might not be receiving the kinds of funds he’s used to getting when defending doctors, business execs, or other lawyers.
It will be interesting to see how this proceeds, as O’Gara has only come on the case since late January when Martin’s former attorney, public defender Melissa Day, bowed out prior to hearing testimony in Kristina Martin’s preliminary January 26.
Bear in mind too that one of Martin’s counts is “conspiracy” to tamper with federal witnesses, and in order to have a “conspiracy,” you have to have more than one person taking the actions toward a crime. Since we all know Kristina and Cody Martin have been charged along with Raymond in Jackson County circuit court…we’ll just see if anyone on the federal level believes their involvement also rises to the level of ‘conspiracy’ to tamper with federal witnesses.
If anything breaks on that, we’ll have it for you.

I dont know if Tina is on welfare or not but look at all the people in Gallatin co. who are perfectly able to work but choose to stay home pregnant drunk and drugged up and using thier link cards at wal mart.. WTF I think people should look at themselves first before judging others.

The second time they raided the house you dumb ass, back in January. The papers with all the items taken have been out. Maybe you are just not privlaged to see them as I am. Just ask the States Attorney Wepseic for a copy I am sure he would give you a copy of what was confiscated from that raid. Last I check thats not been four months ago. And do you think they are going to do anything to the only witness for the state they have. Stirring shit? Thats the pot calling the kettle black!

And I’m sorry in retrospect that I was an ass to Harvy…I’d let him back in but he’s in the spam folder filling it up screaming about it. If he could behave, he could come on back. The cats especially, as they have been removed to the nether regions of the house because they are intrigued by Evie.

But seriously, it’s hard to say regarding this allegation…it could be true, and Wepseic is holding it over Cody’s head…but if it were true, it wouldn’t be his bailiwick anyway, it would be Allen Roe’s. Or maybe the feds depending on where it came from and the ages of the alleged children portrayed. And then it could be BS just for someone to have something to say. Hell, it could be Cody himself. Who knows. He’s got a bad enough attitude, that’s for sure…

Harvy-Do you not think that Cody should be honest and tell everything he knows? I know that Cody has fault in this. However, I believe that he should be forthright about everything he knows about his fathers and step-mothers involvement. Don’t you? As far as I am concerned I wish they would all three just tell the truth take their punishment and let everyone get on with their lives.
By the way, I am not trying to be argumentative or even judgemental. I just believe that obviously all three and probably even more people have participated in illegal activites and it would be best to get this whole legal situation completed in a timely manner. Why drag it out any longer? They are only causing more “heartache” for their loved ones.

Admin,just wanted to let you know you have the wrong Jeremy Potts printed in the latest paper.Also wanted to let you know Gal.Co. board held a special meeting last week to discuss the sherriffs pay.The chairman evidently had a meltdown and pissed a bunch of people off.I dont know the whole story but I bet its a good one.I would say someone at the courthouse could fill you in.

We heard back in January that the RIGHT Jeremy Potts was busted, this from a VERY reliable source.
We’ve had a lot of trouble lately with Wayne County not sending us mugshots when requested (hell, we’ve had a lot of trouble with a LOT of counties not sending requested mugs.) We requested this mugshot so we could see it was the RIGHT Jeremy Potts. We never got the mugshot, so knowing what we’ve been sitting on since about January 4th, we just grabbed THE Jeremy Potts mug and placed it. The date of filing of the charge didn’t make any difference, because in Wayne, there’s a lot of drag-assing around about filing charges even after an arrest has been made, so we just figured out this was what it was. The file at the courthouse was incredibly vague, leading us to believe it was THE Jeremy Potts in question.
So…one of us is wrong. But either way, the whole thing kinda pisses me off. That our jobs are getting increasingly difficult to do, for whatever reason, is the biggest pisser of all.
I know thats not the Gal.Co. Potts mug But,Ive heard this ones had his share of trouble also.Heard anything about that board meeting? By the way Evie is beautiful,congrats!
Any updates on he Board metting yet? Most likely they will try to keep it out of the paper.
I heard that if anyone went to a County Board meeting there that they would keep asking you before the meeting why you were there.They may have someting to hide.
They can ask. We don’t have to tell. We’ve fought with people to keep ourselves unidentified; you don’t HAVE to give your name at a public meeting. It’s public. WE’RE the public.
