Former high school teacher Scott Way arrested Wednesday on probation violation charge

SALINE CO.—Former Hardin County elementary school teacher/high school baseball coach Scott Way has been arrested again in Saline County and charged with violation of terms of his probation.
Way’s arrest happened last night (02.24.10) after a reported failed drug screening. Saline County jail official confirmed to Disclosure, about three hours ago (11:30 a.m.) the arrest and housing of Way in that facility last night. He is currently being held there (Thursday 02.25.10) on $10,000 cash.
South counties residents will remember that Way had just been hired to work in Hardin County’s high school when he was arrested Sept. 28, 2007 after a report of drug activity in the house he was renting on South Feazel Street in Harrisburg.
When officers conducted a search (in Way’s absence), they found 600 grams of pot, 70 grams of cocaine, prescription medications, needles, syringes, scales and packaging materials, according to police reports made after the search.
Way was subsequently found by Carbondale police a few days later at a motel in that town and was arrested. Reports indicate that he had cocaine in his possession at the time, but he was not charged with that; he does, however, have an “ordinance violation” charge against him in Jackson County, possibly stemming from this incident, the “ordinance violation” being Possession of Cannabis…which was dismissed in July 2008.
Way ultimately took a plea to the cocaine possession charge in negotiations with Saline County prosecutor in the case (assistant Jason Olson); the rest of the charges were dismissed in exchange for the plea to the coke. Way was sentenced to four years probation and ordered to pay a fine of $6,600. He was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and was forbidden to drink alcohol or enter any bars or taverns, as well as, of course, to have any illicit substances in his system.
It’s unknown at this time exactly what the probation violation allegedly was; as soon as we can get to the court records, we’ll post it, or it will appear in the print version (March 17).
The utter confusion over Way’s arrest, coming on the heels of the issue with Steve Vinyard (Gallatin County schools coach) yesterday, had some officials reporting to Disclosure that it was Vinyard who was arrested when in actuality it was Way. Disclosure incorrectly reported that Vinyard had been arrested before getting clarification and changing the post (we can’t change it on the facebook, only correct it); we are awaiting an official statement from Gallatin County schools on Vinyard. A call was made earlier in the day but no return call has been received.
More on Way, and Vinyard, as it comes in.

I did not say he was not guilty. I just said that they went to great extent and expense to do it.
Yeah they did go through way too much trouble. Even heard on the tape the low lifes that were trying to get it were practically begging for it. Tim did not have it there. Oh but Marcum did. It was not a predisposed sale. They asked for it and Tim had to get it from the actual drug dealer. So, yes it was a set up, but they failed to arrest the guy who was bringing the drugs into Harrisburg and around your kids. They only want certain people.
Maybe if Tim was a little smarter and more careful he wouldn’t have found himself in the situation he’s in.
There is no maybe about it. He was extremely dumb about his decisions, and whether it was careful or not it was still wrong. He realizes that. He had started his life over and is now a completely different person. He hates the person he was and knows that he deserves some sort of punishment for it. He is not a threat to anyone and does deserve a second chance at life. If he were to screw up again then it’s on him but that is not going to happen. I just wish that the judge and Mike Henshaw could stop their constant thrashing and trying to ruin his life to see he is a person. He messed up but he is human and they are devastating all the people around him who care and love him. We don’t want to see him walk without anything but don’t punish him more than they went and did Scott Way. Give him probation and a chance to start his life over. From what he has overcome in the past two years he deserves that. He has been through hell and back with all of this. Enough is enough. He has done his time in his own prison.
Having someone sell the guy the drugs the day before and then buy the drugs back the next day in tape is considered a set up.
The prosecution was very adept at the sleight-of-hand that had the jury overlooking that little tidbit, goneforgood….It was mentioned but not thoroughly dissected so that the jury could see that that was EXACTLY what happened.
admin;
Surely with Monroe’s high-dollar attorney, they would have delved further into that aspect?!?!
Any time someone’s defense is ‘Yeah, I did it, but—(fill in the blank)”, they are going to have problems.
IMHO, he should have negotiated a deal and THEN went public with all the things that came out in the trial. He would have been on probation and not had a prison sentence hanging over his head.
That would probably have lent more credibility to his cause.
One would think. But the fact is that Christenson was talking differently outside the courtroom than what he was inside. He spoke at length about the defense being that Carolyn and Tiffany brought Monroe coke one night, then he sold it to Carolyn and Zurliene the next…then never elaborated in the courtroom. See why we really don’t like attorneys?
There were some ‘deals’ going on outside the courtroom; we believe one of them was to keep the mention of this down to a minimum. It appeared to us as though there was a lot of wrangling to keep certain aspects of the case from the public eye as well, and they succeeded, things like the May 2009 911 tape of Henshaw screeching at dispatch over Marcum.
Maybe next time you all see Henshaw having lunch at Morellos he will be sitting across from Christenson. Have very rarely seen anyone these days that can’t be bought. Just a thought! For as good as I heard this man was supposed to be, he sure missed alot when the push came to shove. Way to many things left out and way to much went unmentioned. Lots of bark with no bite. Makes you wonder if he got one of those late night phone calls. Wouldn’t be the first attorney who lost his ethics. If there were any outside the courtroom deals, where does it benefit Monroe, he still cannot even get bond. Makes you wonder!
hey several hundred years ago ol’ Willie Shakespeare said “kill all the lawyers, kill them tonight”. nothing has changed. they are the ONLY ones that come out ahead once court is adjourned.
Ok Way beat the weed charge in Jackson Co. cause it was found in a hotel room that wasn’t in his name and he wasn’t in the hotel room when it was found. It was like 1.6 grams. There wasn’t any coke involved either.
Way never got caught with 70 grams of coke, it was 63.5 and when he plead out it somehow only weight 58.9 so someone took some of it. This is all in his paperwork. The state’s attorney charged him $70 for each gram and the total was $4123.
Also Mr. Way’s fine was 11,485 not 6,600. He had his fine completely worked off at a food pantry. If you are going to talk bad about him then AT LEAST get it right.
If you’re going to be an asshole, GoMules, we’ll just clear things up right here.
Writing from documented material about someone’s conviction is NOT “talking bad about him.” It’s informing the public of an incident that used their tax dollars to fund it start to finish: an investigation, arrest, hearings and conviction. There’s not enough of that going on. You are apparently suffering from that dearth of information if your attitude is any indication. Try not to let it bleed over on everyone else who wants to know what’s going on.
Further, those amounts, and dollar figures, also came from public documents—well as published reports. Hope you are bitching out all the other media that published these same numbers, as they all did.
Don’t know what to say about the missing grams of coke. Only a dope dealer would say “Wait—I had more cocaine than that!” about what he was busted with. We see it all the time; Lawrence and Wabash counties had a rash of that about five-six years ago. You have no idea how stupid that makes the defendant look, by the way, because NO ONE looks into how the dope disappears—EVER. It is beyond me why anyone would bitch about that.
Does that make it better? Probably not. Some people would bitch if you hung em with a new rope.
Scott Way bonded out of jail yesterday afternoon.
And we’ll get to that as soon as we’re able to see the file, which is where we’re headed right now.
Looks like you guys might just want to relocate to Saline County!
We are thinking about getting a furnished apartment there. If anyone knows of a nice secure and inexpensive one, let me know. Otherwise we need employees. We are seeing one person today for a possible stringer—hooray!!
People are always dogging on somebody! All I gotta say is people can change.. Don’t ever forget that. Saline County is all drama & too many people talk n don’t have there facts straight. I’m close with Scott & know that some of the stuff I’ve read isn’t true. So make sure your hands are clean before you start pointing fingers!
Does failing 3 drug tests after being in county jail for over a year count as changing?
Semper Fi, Is Carson Riley. How do I know it is Carson Riley is because the dumbass can’t keep his mouth shut. Way spoke with a few people tonight and they confirmed that Semper Fi is Carson’S bitch ass. The people told Way that Carson was bragging about his statement above at the very top of this article. Disclousre Carson Riley is one of the rat’s in Scott Way’s case. They called me and told me about it even. Riley got caught with a like 10 to 20 dollars of weed by Harrisburg High School in 07. He told the cops the weed came from Way. The cops protected him in Way’s case until the very end when he received a subpoena from the state. He is the person who got the cops after Way in the first place. His bitch ass works at Mackie’s in Marion and sometimes at Mackie’s in Harrisburg.
Go Mules;
Be careful when you reveal these people’s names. If this guy was really the Snitch you say he is, your post may endanger him.
A lot of people don’t like snitches!?!?
Yeah if this hadn’t happened overnight I probably wouldn’t have let that stand…but as it is we’ll leave it. That’s one of the reasons why we’re trying to be careful with this and moving the comments with ‘names’ in them to the spam folder until this stops.
Please don’t post snitch names here, GoMules or anyone else. We realize you can do it anywhere online, but we don’t want it here. Thx.
Umm… I think that was the point, Billy.
When Way first got out of jail he posted all his paper work on myspace, including all the people who “snitched” on him and their pictures. I believe that there was around five people. Way was out to get them, just like they got him….
Errata;
I guess it was at that. I’m not much on snitches, but don’t want to see anyone hurt.
Dr.Pawn; The people that snitched Way out are not the ones that got him. He was a player in a dangerous game. The snitches only facilitated his arrest.
“A player in a dangerous game?” I don’t think so. He sold drugs to high school kids and accquintances, very small time.
I never said he was a Major Player; he was a player, nonetheless. The game is dangerous, no matter what level. The consequences (for most people) can be severe. This kid was a party-animal from his early teens on. For some reason, he didn’t get into much trouble.
Slamdunc, a great deal of Harrisburg people know who all told on Way or lied on him. There was 8 people total. No one is out to hurt them, but most people don’t want to hangout with them for various reasons.I hope the Disclosure prints their statements in Way’s article. The reason why is those statements is what made the case against Way, besides Maynard changing his story very late in the case.People forget that no drugs were even found in Way’s possession. Also, Way never even had a drink till he was 17 so you obviously don’t know Scott as well as you think you do.
I know this may sound dumb but what is the exact definition of a SNITCH. I have my own but was curious as to each and everybody else’s opinion. It has a very broad definition if you ask me. My husband tells me that anytime anyone says anything in print or verbally about someone or something that another doesn’t know, it is snitching in one form or another. Doesn’t even have to be just a legal or illegal thing. Anyhows just wondered about anyone else concept on it.
If you do not do illegal things, immoral things or other things you are not proud of, then you do not have to worry about snitches.
I believe “goneforgood” hit it right on the head. People are obviously guilty of the crime they are accused of if they are calling out the people that “snitched” on them.
Yep that’s a couple of the ways I looked at it to. Guess I am am the clear now, but sure don’t wanna think about 20 years ago. You guys are the greatest you all make me LMAO.,
admin,
comment on the March 4th statement, even if anyone was to help you try to get a inexspensive apt. you wouldnt be safe because to me if i were on of MANY people that you post all this bullshit on and about i would find you! honestly this paper is nothing but a bunch of stuff that everyone already knows and really i dont think anyone has agreed with you on anything you have EVER posted…find another business. this paper is bullshit!
If you really believe that, you apparently haven’t been reading very closely.
And judging by your age, I can see why, as the school system isn’t doing a very good job teaching comprehension skills these days.
Addressing your threat…I guess you’d better hope we don’t know who YOU are, huh? Because we can make some too, shithead.
admin It isn’t polite to make fun of people whose English is a second language LOL. I had to re-read R’s post three time just to be slightly confused.
goneforgood You’re 100% right.
LOL…i know…I lost a few IQ points reading it, so sorry if my response was confusing!
I’ll go out and read War and Peace or something by Stephen Hawking and try to gain them back quickly…
Heard they had to change to locks on the Harrisburg Weight Lifting room. Seems Momma Way was letting Scottie use school property. Time for momma to resign, couldn’t raise her own son. Don’t need her watching over our school kids.
You mean it was Scott Way? I knew they closed the weight room because of drug dealing but had no idea by whom.
Ditzy,go by the weight room almost any night around 10 and you’ll find Coach Way and his boy Scott.
Scotty has lifted there throughout his entire adult life. What is the big deal? And it was not Michelles fault Scotty got into drugs, and anybody who thinks so needs to reevaluate. Scotty has a very successful sister who lives in Arizona. What does that make Michelle? Grow a brain……
