FRANKLIN CO., Ill.—As if we didn’t need another reason to be reminded that at-large Second Judicial Circuit judge Melissa Drew is only a judge because she’s not Brian Shinkle, she gave us a big reason yesterday (02.19.10): she ordered custody of Ricky Chekevdia, 7, to be handed over to his father, accused child molester Mike Chekevdia.

Mike, left, and Ricky Chekevdia. Doesn't that boy look happy to be with his dad? Or maybe it's just a reaction to dad's hand placement.

Readers of the print version will know that this month’s back page feature story is an exclusive interview with Ricky’s mom, Shannon Wilfong, and her family.

Readers of state-controlled media, however, will recognize the names from the “boy hidden behind the wall drama” that southern Illinois news outlets want people to believe is the end-all and be-all of the story: that Wilfong hid her son in a hole in the wall of her mom’s house for two years to try and keep him away from his dad. Ricky was ‘discovered’ by authorities (riding behind a SWAT team, which stormed the house) last September and the media went nuts listening—and apparently believing—everything uttered by ISP’s Stanton Diggs about how this little boy had been kept from socializing with others, medical care, schooling, etc.

The truth is much less sensational but no less bizarre: In late 2007, while waiting for ‘child advocate’ agencies to stop handing off the case to people who were friends of Chekevdia’s (in order to prevent a serious investigation), Wilfong submitted to her son’s pleas to not send him to a weekend visit with his dad, and opted instead to go into hiding with him. It wasn’t an easy task, but it wasn’t accomplished the way mainstream media would have everyone believe. She didn’t hide her boy in a hole in the wall at her mom’s house. She simply didn’t go out in public and if they went anywhere, they went at night; she and Ricky stayed at relatives, rental houses or her mom’s rural Elkville home, where they had a massive tract of land behind the house that Ricky could enjoy playing on with his cousins and other friends; and she homeschooled and cared for the boy herself, so well that he was never in need of medical or dental treatment.

Shannon Wilfong at a church event when Ricky was a baby.

An eaves-overhang attic at the farmhouse her mom Diane Dobbs owns, and where they were living, was used perhaps three times in those two years for Wilfong and Ricky to hide in, usually while investigators came to talk to Dobbs. Ricky was never ‘kept’ there, he never ‘played’ there or spent any even insignificant time in it, and it was used for the purpose most attics are: storage. Yet mainstream media, spoon-fed by Diggs, would have everyone believe that Ricky spent every moment in the “hole in the wall,” taking his meals there and living the life of an abused and neglected child.

There’s never been a better example of how true the accusation of ‘state-controlled’ media is than this story, because the bottom line is that Ricky Chekevdia, in documented sessions, was showing symptoms of being abused sexually by his father. Because the investigation was stymied at every turn by friends and acquaintances of Chekevdia, Wilfong would be told by initial investigators and therapists that there was indeed a problem and that it was indeed their suspicion that it was coming from Ricky’s father…then that person would mysteriously be replaced by another social worker who would proclaim loudly that there was no such abuse going on.

Wilfong felt she had no other choice but to keep her son away from his father. Her actions got her charged with child abduction. Her mother has been charged with aiding and abetting.

This, however, isn’t the end of it.

Diane Dobbs seems to be the focus of Franklin County state’s attorney Tom Dinn’s ire. There might be a reason for this: Dobbs used to tend bar in the Royalton area, as well as others. She has seen and heard a huge number of questionable activities. And she may have information about an ongoing “drug highway” through southern Illinois that originates in Florida, a la Saline County.

Dinn has reportedly been associated with this Illinois-Florida connection; and he’s aware of Dobbs’ potential knowledge. This has caused him to show his ass on more than one occasion in Dobbs’ presence. He has, according to Dobbs, last year gotten physical with her, assaulting her at the courthouse to the extent that she had to go to the hospital. Interestingly those hospital records were of interest to the SWAT team when they broke into Dobbs’ house a few months later—they were removed, along with other paperwork showing such things as social workers’ and therapists’ concerns that Ricky was being sexually abused by his father.

Mike Chekevdia is in military intelligence. He is also an adult daycare provider: he works at Big Middy Prison as a CO. He has never been a police officer, even though the latest articles about the custody case still falsely portray him as such.

Shannon Wilfong, who is a very pretty woman

Mainstream media also adheres to the Chekevdia side, portraying Wilfong as some kind of nut case. They show the most unflattering photos possible of her, and report only on negative things being said about her in the courtroom.

Curiously, however, they never report on what this case is doing to the 30-year-old who for all intents and purposes has been victimized not only by the father of her son, but by everyone around him, the court system, and even the attorneys hired to represent her—likely because they’re scared to go up against the powerful elite in Franklin County. And to let you all know how fair we are, one of those attorneys who has taken her case and has given up is none other than Paul Christenson; another is Christenson’s assistant/girlfriend, Jennifer Cavanenss.

Shannon Wilfong has never had her day in court. She has also been crucified by the press, who for reasons that seemed inexplicable until lately, seem to be sucking up to the Chekevdia side (Disclosure has since learned that Chek’s uncle, George Stavroulakis, is a bigwig with an Illinois entity; more on that in the next print version). The misplaced loyalty has blinded msm to the possibility that there might be something horrific going on in Ricky Chekevdia’s life, as evidenced by one particular photo and by reports the boy has given to the initial social agencies.

The current print version has photos that msm never bothered to go after: those of the eaves-overhang attics in the Dobbs house, showing exactly how they were used on the three occasions to hide Ricky and his mom (both of them, not just him, as she was in hiding too) as well as the single photo and others that might show something untoward between father and son.

In the meantime, msm is shaming themselves by not involving themselves further, by not checking with the Dobbs/Wilfong family for the facts of their ordeal, and by continuing to misrepresent Mike Chekevdia as someone who southern Illinois should bow down and do obeisance to (a cop, which he’s not).

Melissa Drew is shaming herself by constantly fluttering toward Chekevdia every time he appears in her courtroom, and now, giving full custody of the boy to him, with only minimal visits with Shannon Wilfong. Disclosure promoted Drew in 2006 as someone who, as a mother, who would be fair and even when judging cases regardless of what clout one party carried. But sadly, she has proven to be what many in opposition to her candidacy said she was four years ago: completely inexperienced when it came to judicial matters, and incapable of handling those grievous enough to involve the possible sexual exploitation and abuse of a very young boy.

She is up for retention in November 2012. At this point in time, even Brian Shinkle, who was Drew’s opponent in 2006, looks like a better option than Melissa Drew, and we are calling for voters in the Second Circuit to overwhelmingly vote “no” to retain Drew, if for no reason other than to ensure that no other child might endure what Ricky Chekevdia, in his own words, has claimed to endure.

UPDATE 02.23.10

It’s been brought to our attention that while the Wilfong/Dobbs family are trying to get the word out of what’s been happening to them, someone in the other camp is chasing them around on the internet, specifically topix.net. We have trouble viewing that website; there’s something about their ads that crash our program. However, posts and threads sent to us by concerned readers show that there seems to be one person, with an IP of Edgerton, Ohio, chasing Shannon’s supporters around the various topics related to this subject. Apparently whoever this person is doesn’t realize that his IP shows up the same no matter what screen name he gives himself. It’s about par for the pathetic attempt on the part of Chekevdia and his supporters, fighting against the facts of the case; and contrary to what they believe and espouse, ‘justice’ doesn’t necessarily equate to adherence to facts. Chekevdia and his ilk  may not recognize that, but many others do. The truth will win out.

  1. Let It Snow says:

This all reminds me of the beginning of what happened with the Lay children in Saline Co…and look at the results of that sad situation from Judge Lambert giving the kids and parents visitation all because the parents had taken a “parenting class”. I hope this situation doesn’t end like that one did.

  2. OldDog says:

This is too hard to read. There are too many things going on here to not be suspicious of the situation. I would suggest that you keep this in the public eye. If The Disclosure was ever needed it would be now. Hang in there and find the truth whatever it may be. I knew when I read the print version that this could be the biggest story yet. Why would this mother continue to fight so hard for her son? Do not give up as there are more people watching this story than one would ever know. Don’t be surprised to see it on national television once again in a different light. How can anyone, anywhere, think this is good for this boy? This boy needs our help now as does his mother. Anyone who reads this paper and believes in what it stands for should stop what they are doing and write something right now. It doesn’t matter what. Ask questions. Seek answers. Get involved!!

  3. sanner90 says:

ummmmm now im not a lawyer or anything like that but last time i checked parents were supposed to keep their children safe is this not what the mother of this boy did ?? well let me tell you if there was ever anyone that ever allengedly sexually abused my child i would be in prison for murder ugh this article makes me so mad how can anyone be bought off instead of taking care of a child grrrrrrr…….

  4. uhhh says:

I know nothing of this story other than what I’ve read here but I CAN and WILL tell you that DCFS is not always what you think it would be , should be , could be, would have to be. For the most part it is a money making business with the true Best Interest of the Child getting lost in the politics and the abuse of power. If you only knew, you would shudder !

  5. Shawn Turner says:

Ya know, after reading this story from this viewpoint, I find it interesting that one day while I was with the lovely Royalton Police Dept. Mr Chekevida asked me how to get on the police dept. Auxilliary. Kind of suspicious there. As for Stan Diggs, I have lost all respect for him due to going to him in reference to a complaint I had against my lovely ex landlord in Sesser and nothing was done about it, it wasn’t anything major, just a threat on my life which I even stated to Mr Diggs I had a witness but of course nothing was done. Police work at its finest. Along with the fiasco I’m involved in now. Unbelievable.

  6. admin says:

The level of trash and corruption going on down in Franklin and Williamson counties is unbelievable. And we thought Saline and Gallatin was bad…they just have public officials/ people in high places who got CAUGHT. Nobody’s been caught in your counties yet Shawn…but it looks like they might be getting closer to it.

  7. galco says:

It will be interesting to see how many public officials in the surrounding counties go down within the next five years now that Martin is likely singing his lungs out. Sometimes I wonder; Can you only find this much dirt on people of authority in Southern Illinois, or could we go to a cluster of counties Nevada and find the same amount of craziness within law enforcement/public officials there? I guess it could be the fact that, if you dig deep enough, you will find a lot of Gallatin and Saline people are related somewhere down the line. Is stupidity genetic? :)

  8. Angela says:

I feel so bad for this mother… and the mainstream media still continues to make her out to be crazy and keeps saying that she kept the boy in the wall.. which I now know isn’t true thanks to the story in your newest issue.

  9. admin says:

Yes. This story is tragic. Even if there never comes to be any proof to the allegations of sexual abuse by the father, there’s no need to make the mother out to be some raving lunatic. The msm down there only excises out the most damning things anyone says about her while at hearings, and gives them no context. We believe that hell should be for these journalists to have the same horrific thing happen to them, then for some state-controlled media puppet to spew only what the bigwigs in the area want them to spew.

And why they continue with the ‘boy in the wall’ thing is absolutely beyond us, as there is plenty of evidence and corroborating witnesses to show that the child had a perfectly normal and healthy life while in hiding at the various locations in the area. The truth is that they wouldn’t have been able to hide for so long if that ‘father’ (read: sperm donor) had really wanted to find him. The man drove past that house every day, sometimes several times. He didn’t TRY until it looked as though it would ‘benefit’ him or his family somehow. Selfish, immature and from what we’re gathering from outside entities, sadistic man.

  10. slamdunc says:

Sounds like Diggs is planning on writing a book. It wouldn’t sound near as sensational if he said the boy had a normal life. This is typical with main stream media; they want oooohs and aaaaahs. That is what sells.

  11. galco says:

If it ever even came close to crossing my mind that my husband could abuse (sexually or not) my child, he would be the one needing to hide in a hole in the wall. Better yet, a hole in the ground. Say, six feet under or so..

..which is the same place every child mollester should be. This story is disgusting. The justice system is so far beyond screwed up that it’s unreal. Who do you turn to when the court returns your child into the arms of the man who has been accused of mollesting him? It’s heartbreaking, really.

  12. admin says:

To slamdunc: yeah, Diggs got a promotion out of this. And as far as what the media’s doing with it—good lord these are the people who say WE ‘sensationalize’ everything. What a bunch of losers.

To galco: You would think the ‘social services’ would take every precaution with this case, but every time they got someone involved—Valerie Kastens comes to mind immediately, she’s a very reliable therapist—someone on the Chekevdia side would get to them and they would back out, and the case would be turned over to someone who invariably said “Oh the mom’s making this up, she’s crazy” or the original therapist (like Kastens) would waver as if they’d been threatened. So it’s a distinct case of who you are and who you know in this. Add to that the information we’ve received about high-end drug activity in this area and it’s the same old story, just like Saline and Gallatin. But law enforcement are working their way through that again now, aren’t they…

  13. ann says:

It is so true that any type of abuse on children should not be excepted!!! But not all those who work for state agenice that are ment to protect children are bad!! there are laws and policy that have to be followed and its sad but the parents who may cause the abuse still have rights!! I realize its not anyway fair and its hard to see it that way but I have quite a few good friends who work for CPS and they do there best to protect child and strive to do what is in the best interest of the child and they too get upset with the LAWS!!! so when ever you start pointing fingers just remeber theres always four pointing back at YOU!!!

  14. admin says:

No there are several hundred THOUSAND pointing back at us…but it’s all been what the DCFS drones call “malicious reports.” After three such reports, the person who is the victim of them is entitled, without having to go through adjudication, to learn the name of the malicious reporter. Makes for some interesting copy, let me tell you.

There might be some good people in DCFS. We’ve personally known about two. One was a fine woman from Murphysboro who ended up in federal litigation against people who terminated her unjustly. So even DCFS tries to keep good people in their midst out of cases where they’re needed.

But we believe this: If there’s a crime going on, you report it to the police, who takes information to the prosecutor and it goes from there. If there’s not a crime going on, the nosybodies at DCFS, who are never there when you need them and always up your ass when you don’t, need to keep out of it. They don’t need to be going to court with/for people and they don’t need to be testifying against anyone. DCFS has no legal standing in Illinois; they are a makework group developed by liberal bleeding hearts who thought the cops had better things to do than arrest a mean daddy for beating a kid (in this case we would be talking about lazy cops/prosecutors). So the state developed a ‘go-between’ group and here we have DCFS coming into our homes without warrants, uninvited, giving their ‘impressions’ of what’s going on, and generally complicating things. If there’s a crime happening, arrest, charge and prosecute. Otherwise DCFS is completely superfluous and the state would solve its budget crisis—and get decent things going in schools, stop taxing the hell out of hardworking people, and reduce dependency on public aid—if they would do away with them.

    **steps off soapbox now**

  15. dreamergirl says:

she did wat she had to do to keep her lil boy safe. let her go free. If he is free than she should be free. I’m from the same town. And i know both sides of this. They need to just stop cause this is causing more harm to the child than it is to the parents.

  16. OldDog says:

Right on Admin! Listen to Steve Earle’s song, F*** the FCC. He shoulda wrote a line about DCFS. “I’m Livin’ in the M***** F*****’ USA.” I’m gonna go listen to it now.

  17. shawn turner says:

I really don’t like being thrown in that “authority people that got caught” I’d like to tell my entire story very soon, to a reliable news source, “mainstream media” can kiss my ass. And I have lost a hugeeee amount of respect for the Illinois State Police this past year, at least District 13 and the Franklin County States Attorneys office I know that. Maybe I can get some more threats to ” he better be careful when he comes back into Franklin County”. I thought that was really cute. And now I’m getting really cute inbox msgs.

  18. JustMe says:

I have known Shanon for a very long time and I know she would never keep her son in a wall. As a mother myself and someone who was molested as a child, I dont blame her one bit for keeping her son away from that monster! I would think so much less of her if she would have kept sending her son over there after he told her what his father was doing to him. I do wonder why no one has asked the boy his side of the events. We are supose to protect the children and I think the only way to know the true sidde of things is to put him in a safe home that he can feel comfortable in and after a while ask him what happened. That way no one can “brain wash” him to say what they want him to say. I feel the so called “father” should be sent to prison so he can be raped and molested and Shanon should be able to raise her son and they should be left alone. Let the boy get the help he needs and let the healing start, its a long, long road!

  19. Ginger Scharnhorst says:

I would have done what Shannon did to protect my child from sexual abuse if the law was not helping me protect my child. I was sexually abused as a child and I was not protected by either parent. I wish I would have had a mother like Shannon to love me so much that I could have been protected from the abuse I suffered. The boy in the wall story makes me sick! Why cant the media just leave Shannon alone. Put yourself in her shoes and imagine what you would have done. I pray justice will be served!

  20. bush says:

all i have to say is why don’t people stop and think: if an entire family is willing to give up their freedom to protect a child should there not be a red flag to all the systems that maybe something is wrong and should be investigated! i think they should go through this with a fine tooth comb!! and of course the one person to ask would be the boy but now as much attention as this has gotten they will all assume what he says she brainwashed. how pathetic!! i think to receive a fair trial it needs to be moved from franklin county!! he has 2 many ties there and is well known so she dont stand a chance. her and ricky deserve better!! i know both parties involved some what and the way the media has protrayed her to be is so rude!! put yourself in her shoes for once what would u have done when everybody legally u turned to turned their backs and didnt help or take u seriously!! i wish shannon the best of luck and the truth will come out!!!

  21. The terminated says:

Does anyone know if Judge Drew has any connections to the Henshaw click?

  22. Whatever says:

What this mother did was wrong PERIOD, no matter the situation you don’t hide a child!! You fight it!! You find the media to help you, I don’t believe that EVERYONE is out to get this woman and her mother. I am a abuse victim and I would never hide my child for 2 years, I would fight to expose, it’s excuses.

  23. admin says:

Whatever: apparently you don’t know the whole story. She DID try to get the media to tell what was going on. She DID go to every ‘social services’ agency (including DCFS and others) trying to get some help for the boy. The things he was telling her from the time he was three years old were horrific, and he had every classic sign and symptom of sexual abuse. When she continued to get shunned and punted around by the social services, and the court wouldn’t let her tell what she believed was going on, and no law enforcement would take the investigation and do anything serious with it, she was at her wit’s end—and she did the only thing she knew to do, which was to take the child from his father and hide in hopes that the boy might ultimately get to an age where people believed what he was saying, not just his relatives.

Any good mother would do what she could, even put her life at risk for her boy, and that’s what Shannon did. Now, she IS fighting to expose—to expose the corruption in the system, the pussified media that continues to cover up the corruption, and what she believes her son’s father did to him.

  24. Shannon Wilfong says:

Admin: Thank you for continuing to spread the truth behind this nightmare and helping me get my side of the story out. I appreciate the both of you and all of your work. Thank you Jack & Angela!

  25. admin says:

You’re so welcome Shannon. From both of us. We think you are a dear lady and that you are very courageous. I only wish there were more we could do for you.

We do have a follow-up story coming up this month on Vreeland, just to keep things in the public’s consciousness.

Don’t hesitate to email or call if you need anything.

  26. Whatever says:

No any mother would fight NOT hide!!! How can you even say that EVERY single cop, lawyer, media outlet is wrong and the entire world is out to get this single mother? Why does EVERY report show the child was neglected, pale, and with no education? Why can’t she keep a lawyer? Where is your proof about the father..medical records, the FIRST social worker? If so many agreed with her in the beginning, WHERE ARE THEY?

  27. admin says:

Please…NO ONE said EVERY single cop/lawyer/media outlet is wrong. There’s a small tight-knit bunch over there. When you get out in the real world instead of being cloistered and thinking that things are mundane and ‘normal’ everywhere, you realize that there are little ‘societies’ of people, who think their shit doesn’t stink, and they all stick together and work for the interests of each other and against the interests of those lower on the totem pole. There is such a society in Franklin County. They are all over the place. We’re covering 16 counties regularly now and I could tell you about each of these little cliques in each of them but it would take all day to do so. Rest assured, it happens that way.

In answer to ‘why does every report show the child was neglected, pale and with no education,’ you only have access to the reports Franklin County and surrounding counties’ media want you to see. We’ve seen different reports—the real ones. They’re available to other media, but they wouldn’t dare run them because it changes what the authorities want you all to believe. Stanton Diggs got a promotion out of this. If any media dare go against anything coming out of his mouth, there’ll be hell to pay. Believe us when we say, we’ve worked around him long enough. The man has too much power. But I’m sure you don’t know a thing about him.

In answer to your next questions: about the lawyer—refer to answer #1. Medical records, the FIRST social worker—refer to answers #1 and 2. If so many agreed with her in the beginning where are they—refer to all of the above. These people were threatened. Until you’ve been in the system or, like us, have worked around it so many years, you have no idea the bullshit these ‘bigwigs’ can wrangle their way through. We’ve stood and watched people bold-faced lie to us when we have documents in hand to prove otherwise. It’s of no consequence to them. In their county, their word is law. Until someone unseats them, that’s the way it’s going to be. Until people educate themselves about the facts, though, they won’t get unseated. Then we’ll get people like you who believe the drivel the bullshit mainstream media shovel because ‘that’s all you’ve ever known.’ Get out and look around. There is an incredible amount of injustice in Franklin County. An incredible amount of cover up. Look at Tom Leggans’ wife. That was a bullshit case, covered over like cats in a litterbox. And you people sit in amongst the turds and go “Man it smells GREAT here today!!” with a big smile on your face.

Bear in mind too, that almost ALL your local mainstream media is owned by one company—GateHouse. What the Benton Evening News puts in the paper is the same thing the Duquoin Evening Call does; so does the West Frankfort Daily American, the Murphysboro Daily American, the Marion rag, everything down there is owned by one or two conglomerates. There IS NO INDEPENDENT NEWS PRODUCT in the area except us. They don’t make their existence on sales of papers, they make it on advertising. If they piss off the powers that be, they don’t sell the ads. It so happens that the powers that be are the ones screwing it up for the little guy, like Shannon or Ricky. You think the papers are going to rock that boat and lose their funding? Hell no. So they tell it like Tom Dinn wants it told…and that’s all you know.

I’m deeply sorry it makes you look so ignorant. Maybe you should open your mind just a little bit more and understand that things aren’t always as your public officials and state-controlled media make you think they are.

  28. im with the mom says:

mike has two nephews mark vreeland and scott vreeland they are convicted repeated sex ofenders look it up in court reports did anybody look at this families history

  29. incredible! says:

I notice that Shawn Turner is posting comments on this site! He should be hanged in the middle of downtown Royalton right with the Wilfong family! He is a dirty cop who admitted on TV that he broke into the evidence room at Royalton PD! He was under investigation for matters in his personal life that were unprofessional as well! For details, just ask me! I read where Diane feels she is being persecuted for information she has about a drug highway through Saline County and Mr. Turner is originally from Harrisburg…….hmmmmm! Do I smell a connection?

  30. admin says:

Yeah, you smell a connection…it’s called corrupt public officials and Turner was trying to get to the bottom of it, Dobbs knew of it years ago (and of the connections the locals had to Florida…just ask em in Saline about THAT), the corrupt public officials knew of her knowledge and are doing what they can to make her and her family look like lunatics to disparage them and wreck any credibility if she were to ever come forward with what she knows.

Well guess what. She has. And thanks to Raymond Martin getting busted, there are other corrupt public officials now being scrutinized all throughout the “drug highway” going up through the middle of the state, under this circumstance, Williamson and Franklin counties.

And if you support these idiots, as it appears you do, you’d better not be caught in online forums saying so…just in case they start looking at you, too.

  31. OldDog says:

Why do people so adamantly want to defend this father and put down the mother and grandmother? Only Ricky and his father know the real truth about exactly what happened and it will all come out one day. My son’s mother can keep him anytime she wants against court orders and nothing happens (in Williamson County) because the State’s Attorney decides whether or not to pursue it. Do you think the fact that they are friends has anything to do with it? This is how it works around here and that is a fact of life. If you believe everyone is treated the same then you have no idea what you are talking about. You really don’t. I would have to guess that anyone defending the father knows him (as well as he lets them) and the vast majority on here defending the mother have never met her. I just hope Ricky is okay.

  32. admin says:

I think the reason people still believe the BS that prompts them to put down Shannon and Diane is because A) Chekevdia had two years to go around planting in everyone’s head that he was ‘so worried’ about his son being gone and that Shannon was crazy, so people believed that because his was the only voice being heard, B) because the media kept regurgitating everything Tom Dinn said about it—and his view was skewed because of what Diane knows about him and other ‘power people’ in the area and C) there wasn’t anything at all introduced over two years (now going on three) to show any different.

What the media produced was far more sensational than the truth, and you know they’ve got to sell papers (and advertising) somehow, since circulation is down so much that many of them are cutting a day out of their “daily” offering. Then they’re too lazy to go out and learn the truth—and take photographic evidence to show it—and you know they wouldn’t DARE go against the word of the little tin god Diggs.

Your assessment is probably right on: people who are commenting defending Chek are doing so at his behest; people dissing Shannon are only regurgitating what they’ve been told by area media, which has been proven to be a lie.

  33. incredible! says:

Ricky IS OK, he is with his dad. And I’m real scared, admin, I think it is probably illegal to threaten someone on line so maybe you had better watch yourself! Shawn Turner doesn’t have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot before putting it on, let alone bust an interstate drug trafficking ring! And that Dobb’s woman is so fried in the brain she probably thinks aliens picked her up and did tests on her!

  34. admin says:

What the hell was a THREAT?

When I say “watch what you say, someone might be watching”, that’s ADVICE, you fuckup. Same as it was for the Costello-supporter freaks. If you think it’s a THREAT, let’s see your smart ass take it to an attorney…and be sure you send us at least an audio recording of him laughing your ass out of the room.

There’s nothing wrong with Diane. She’s one of the most sane people we’ve interviewed, and especially under the circumstances of being sick to death over her grandson.

You, on the other hand, are an instigator probably sent here by Chekevdia. Watch your shit or you’re in the spam folder, and that’s not a threat, that’s a goddamned PROMISE you piece of shit.

How does incredible know Ricky is okay? What does okay mean? His dad said so. Does he know how Ricky behaves during visitation with his mother? If you know something helpful, say it. Make us all feel better and tell us what you actually know about Ricky’s emotional and mental state since you say he is okay. How the F#%K can he be okay? That is the dumbest thing I have read all week.

  36. admin says:

Given that Shannon’s visitations are ‘overseen,’ there are only a handful of people who could possibly know how he behaves during them, limiting this post commenter to that handful. Unless of course he/she is lying, which would be typical of that bunch.

How much did this guy really care about his son? He knew where his boy was, he could have went and got him. If my boy was missing and I knew where he was, I’d go into the house and get my boy, or I’d die trying. I’ve read the story, I’ve educated myself on this as much as possible. The mother would have never taken the boy into hiding like that in less something was going on. She seems to be a person of average or possibly greater intelligence.

  38. Tara Ellison-Cooke says:

Hi Shannon. I just want you to know that I am on your side. This is the first I’ve heard of your story and it has brought chills up my spine. I am horrified and disgusted in the lack of justice here. Every person involved in the cover up and corruption should be behind bars for aiding and abetting a CHILD MOLESTER!!! I am tearful for you right now, because as a mother I know the pain and heartache you must be feeling. I am angry for you as well. This is absolutely ridiculous what they have done to you and that innocent little boy. If I were there I would be on the front lawn of that courthouse EVERYDAY picketing and shouting for justice. The botched investigation, or lack there of speaks volumes about the Franklin County system. And the fact that evidence was stolen-what is wrong with these people??? SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!! THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE AT ANYTIME!! SOMEONE STAND UP AND HELP RICKY!! IT WAS YOUR JOB AS A MOTHER TO BE AN ADVOCATE FOR YOUR SON-TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST ANY WRONGDOING AGAINST HIM, AS HE CANNOT-AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID. KNOW THAT YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON SHANNON-THE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL…..MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, AND MR. CHEKEVDIA-MAY YOU ROT IN HELL!!

  39. Tara Ellison-Cooke says:

AND JUST TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, I HAVE KNOWN SHANNON SINCE I WAS 13, AND SHE IS A VERY INTELLIGENT, LOVING AND CARING PERSON WHO IS THE FURTHEST THING FROM CRAZY. AND “INCREDIBLE” IS OBVIOUSLY INVOLVED A GREAT DEAL MORE THAN HE LEADS ON FOR HIM TO GO AS FAR AS TO SAY THAT THESE PEOPLE NEED HUNG-SOUNDS TO ME LIKE MR. CHEKEVDIA HIMSELF- TO HAVE THAT KIND OF ANIMOSITY AND HATRED TO SAY SOMETHING SO CRUEL. EITHER THAT OR HE IS ONE OF THESE FOOLS THAT ARE TIED UP IN THE DRUG RING AND IS TRYING TO DISCREDIT MR. TURNER AND MS. DOBBS. WHOMEVER HE OR SHE MAY BE, YOU’RE MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A FOOL AND ARE MAKING SHANNON’S CASE THAT MUCH MORE BELIEVABLE. GO HARRASS SOMEONE ELSE-I’M SURE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DIRT ON YOU. AND BTW, NOONE THREATENED HARM OR WRONGDOING AGAINST YOU, I READ IT MYSELF-PERHAPS THE REASON YOU FEEL THREATENED IS BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE???

  40. admin says:

That whole strain has a lot of horrific skeletons…the Vreelands and the Perrequets, some of the most heinous child abuse, molestation and in one case, death, we’ve ever heard of were perpetrated by that disgusting side of the family. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Why anyone would want to cover for someone (something) like that is beyond me…

  41. Tara Ellison-Cooke says:

Just found another picture on jezebel.com where this monster has his hand on Ricky’s private area-jesus do I need to hire a private investigator myself??? Are these policemen really that ignorant???

  42. admin says:

That’s insane….looks like a place where Chek would go to aggrandize himself. He’s got to prop himself up somehow, what a better venue than a “women’s website” to glorify celebrities. Now he’s a celebrity. Huh. Just wait til the truth comes out…and it will, even if it isn’t until after Ricky is old enough to tell what he’s suffered at his bio-dad’s hand.

  43. Jimbo says:

I wonder if anyone has tried to contact the “America’s Most Wanted” show, or 60 minutes, or 20-20, or that other dude that has the child molester program on, about this? Seems that a well-written out, tactful, correct, honest notification sent to someone MUCH bigger than the pissants in Southern Illinois, might get the ball rolling and focus attention on some of the crap that happens in SO ILL.

    Can’t hurt to try.

  44. admin says:

They were on a network TV show, can’t remember which one, and the show “sanitized” the family for viewer consumption, presumably after the producers talked to the “authorities” on the issue (yeah. “Authority” was Stanton Diggs…who got a promotion out of the case. While lying through his teeth about every step of it. THAT’S what it takes to ascend the ladder at ISP. Ok, I get it now).

It’s nearly impossibly to get any mainstream media outlet to take the story other than what’s been widely published seriously. The reason is because the people who do the ‘legwork’ for these larger media outlets are little dweebs who are interns, just starting, etc, and they get intimidated easily by someone like Diggs, or Chek’s uncle who’s with a big agency in the state, and the Wilfong side are just common people, ‘nobodies.’ The interns report back to the producers that the state police or the prosecutor’s office are saying “Oh this is just an insane mother, you need to let this go, it could ruin your credibility if you look into her allegations”and the producers go “Well okay.Let that one go, they’re probably right” and they move on.

It’s lazy journalism. All you have to do is go into that home, take a look around, see the whole property and talk to the people who were really there—not a construct of Mike Chekevdia’s mind—and look at the original DCFS reports/opinions before the Chekevdia side started screwing with the people who were doing the reporting. The story is right there…you just have to break through the Chekevdia bullshiz wall.

  45. Niittymaki says:

I have my own horror stories to tell. Sadly mine happened 11 yrs ago & my children are now all grown. How I wish there were a site like this around then. I went to court in Franklin county and was NOT allowed to subpoena anyone in to speak on my behalf. How can that even be legal? Even now I am still angry!! To the site admin: feel free to contact me by email if you are interested in hearing yet another Franklin county horror story. Keep up the good work. Best wishes also to Shannon. I’m on your side 100%.

  46. Hardluck Hannah says:

Whoa! I don’t think Admin has the time, energy or employees to take on another county besides Saline. Franklin is even WORSE…if that’s possible…and I suppose it is because…well it is. Admin would spred himself too thin to take on all of that county at this time with all he’s got going in Gallatin and Saline. You gotta remember, he has to sleep sometime.

  47. admin says:

You know, what IS it with Franklin County and their utter corruption? I believe if we took all 16 other counties we cover regularly and add up the sh!t they do that’s corrupt, it would only be a fraction of how corrupt Franklin is. It’s Franklin’s fault that we have piss-poor judges in the circuit; Franklin has the most atrocious murders (both ‘solved’ and unsolved); Franklin has probably the most certifiable prosecutor (Tom Dinn, we have come to the conclusion, is INSANE. There’s no other explanation for him. Gotta wonder if he has suffered untreated syphilis and it’s destroying his brain.)

We would only take on a limited story like Niittymaki’s, like we did Shannon’s, because it’s a stand-out. If we started looking at Franklin’s court files on a daily or even weekly basis, the BS would probably make our heads explode.

The only reason corrupt public officials continue to get away with this garbage is because there’s no media there to shine the light on them and expose them for what they are. I’ve NEVER seen the type of ass-kissing the three newspapers that cover Franklin do toward the public officials. If a product like ours had been around Franklin County ten years ago, Mike Chekevdia would be a homeless rotten drunk lying in the gutter someplace instead of the trashed-out, rotten drunk he is, being propped up by all his wealthy relatives and the corrupt public officials.

We’ll try to email you, Niittymaki. Maybe we can do a feature. We are NOT scared of the punkass PO’s in Franklin. They only have as much ‘power’ as the uninformed and unenlightened allow them to have…and was are not only the informed and enlightened, but we are the informers and the enlighteners.
