Olney teacher/former coach operating under censure for ‘inappropriate relationship’

OLNEY, Ill.—Disclosure has just learned, via a concerned reader, that East Richland Community Unit School District No. 1 last year censured teacher and former coach Curt Dobbs—heavily.
It would appear that, due to some teacher’s union being involved and Dobbs being a member of that union, he’s operating under a “three-strikes-you’re-out” rule—where having an inappropriate (and according to documents we recieved, reportedly it devolved into suggestions of approaching the physical realm at some point in time) relationship with a minor student doesn’t get him fired, but instead gets a ‘resolution’ drawn up against him and signed by the school board in April 2009.
While coverage was given to the resolution by mainstream media at the time, nothing at all was said about the seriousness of it. This was in part why Disclosure didn’t necessarily take notice of the ‘resolution,’ as Dobbs had been under fire just two years prior for his behavior toward East Richland’s Lady Tigers team (there were accusations, not of suggestive behavior, but simply of being too harsh and rough on certain members of the team). Dobbs was called to task for it and it was serious enough that he was shortly thereafter out as coach. He remains on as physical science teacher.
Anyone with additional information on this matter can feel free to contact Disclosure; your name will remain anonymous. Contact info is on the “about” link. The apparent sudden surge in teachers or coaches in downstate getting in trouble lately is disturbing, and we want to get as much information out there so that school boards and administrations know that there is a news outlet who will tell the full story, since we aren’t worried about sparing anyone’s feelings, but are instead worried strictly about the VICTIMS and what this crap is doing to them and to their families.
There will be full information, as well as exclusive input from those involved, in the print version of Disclosure, on stands March 17.

HE IS LUCKY. THERE ARE TEACHERS BEING FIRED THIS YEAR ALL OVER FOR LESS THAN THAT. THINK THEY ARE LOOKING FOR ANY REASON TO GET RID OF A TEACHER AND THAT IS ONE CUT THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE TO MAKE NEXT YEAR—THE TEACHER MAY HAVE MADE IT FOR THE ADMINISTRATORS.
By publishing this story, you are making the victems relive hurt and pain. I am not happy with the school’s findings and think it is disgusting behavior. This article is also about a minor. Why would you make her relive all the scrutiny for that molester’s behavior by publishing this article?
Parents deserve to know what kind of filth they have around their children. If you really care contact us about “the victims” so they may have a chance to speak for themselves instead of you speaking for them… The intent was never to make a minor relive anything; it is to tell taxpayers what their money is being spent on… It is also to inform the public of what their prosecutor is turning his head from instead of putting the piece of shit behind bars where he belongs… People like this don’t stop, they just get sneakier…So publishing this about Dobbs is to prevent more victims. It needs to come out in its entirety.
