JASPER CO.—Illinois Route 33 southeast of Wheeler is currently closed after a very serious accident involving a construction worker there.
Our sources are stating that the accident occurred a little more than a half hour ago (before 9 a.m.), and was just north of the granary between Wheeler and Newton (the area of Lis, where the granary is located).
It’s being reported that a construction worker has been struck by a vehicle in the work zone, and EMTs were doing the best they could with him at the scene before transport.
Traffic is being rerouted in the area; use caution if you’re traveling there.
