21-year-old man Lifeflighted after Poor Boys fight: UPDATE

HARRISBURG—After repeated warnings from mayor Eric Gregg over the past two or so years, it appears threats of shutting the place down have had zero impact on the fights initiating in Poor Boys in Harrisburg.

Sources have confirmed that a 21-year-old man, George Fowler, was Lifeflighted to Evansville after starting a fight at Poor Boys in Harrisburg.

The fight broke out around 10:35pm Sunday night and involved two other men, from what we’re being told.

Last year, after Brandon Bebout was nearly beaten to death while patrons watched and did nothing, then unceremoniously dumped on the parking lot of the biker bar, Gregg sent out stern messages to all liquor license holders in the city that such fights would not be tolerated. However, since that time, fights continue unabated, with no action taken toward the bars at all, especially Poor Boys, owned by Jim Watson and a shell corporation that involves attorney/former mayor Robert Wilson, which should say it all.

It’s been reported to us by friends of Fowler’s that while he did have some bleeding on the brain (hematoma), he checked himself out of the hospital today; beyond that, we’re not sure how he’s faring.

We’ve had this late input, from someone who was there and saw it all but would like to remain anonymous:

Brett Winters is the guy that beat up the Fowler kid. Brett was minding his own business when Fowler provoked him into the fight. Fowler swung first and Winters defended himself, Fowler wouldn’t leave it alone after Winters knocked his butt off and told him to stop, Fowler just kept on and on. As they were loading Fowler up in the ambulance, Winters followed them out to the ambulance to see if he was alright and I think they said it was Fowler’s stepdad jumped Winters again and then Winters knocked his ass off too. Winters had been at Poor Boys for most of the evening and not had that much to drink, he is actually a pretty good kid, his mother Cindy Winters runs Mrs Cindy’s Day Care in Harrisburg. I am not saying that anyone deserves to be beat down by any means, but you are going to get alot of stories from people that weren’t even there. The reason they were open late is because they were celebrating Sheila Harmon’s and Dennis Miller’s birthday and had a fish fry, place was packed from the time they opened until the fight.

More as we get it, if we do; we’re in the last three days of production for the big pre-election issue, so things might thin out a little bit between now and then.
