SHOOTING IN HARRISBURG; ONE IN CUSTODYPosted by Jack Howser on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 @ 8:05 am.
HARRISBURG—Here’s all we know about a shooting that occurred on Mill Street in Harrisburg early this morning, about 1:30 a.m., 10.4.12.
According to scanner traffic, wherein they spoke freely (which is different than usual), likely because they believed most of our sources were asleep:
- One is in custody; crime scene called out. They recovered a Smith & Wesson 9MM unregistered handgun at the scene.
- 1:36 was the time of the initial call. At 1:19 there was a domestic call; subsequent scanner talk made it appear as though it is related. At that time officials were still on the scene searching.
- City investigator Curt Hustedde was called out but he refused to respond, saying he was taking a sick day already scheduled. Officer David Morris said “Tell him to get here now.” Upon next refusal, Morris called Hustedde’s cell but the phone was going straight to voicemail. Morris then said “Never mind, tell him to not bother, we will call someone else that wants to work.” Hustedde then responded and he told him the same thing: “Call someone else.”
We JUST learned that all the mouthing Morris was doing was related to the fact that Hustedde had already called in sick with a stomach bug, and someone forgot to tell Morris this key fact. Way to go, Dave…or whomever neglected to tell you. Nothing like bad-mouthing over the airwaves when there’s a defensible position on the other side of the matter.
