ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING WITH INJURY REPORTED
NEWTON—There’s been an accidental shooting in the city of Newton, in Jasper County.
While details are sketchy right now, what we’re hearing is that the Newton Police Department and Jasper County Ambulance Service responded to an accidental shooting at 509 Liberty Street, Newton, just after 3pm today, Tuesday, 09.25.12.
According to scanner traffic, the homeowner and gun owner (father of injured party) did not have a valid FOID card. In fact, he had been denied a FOID card.
That’s about all we know right now…but we’re going to be up that way tomorrow afternoon, and will get more details for you then. Keep checking back.
