CITY WORKER ARRESTED ON THEFT COUNT

LAWRENCE CO.—Sources in Lawrenceville have advised that there’s been a development in the case of a couple of Lawrenceville city workers who made page 2 of this issue.

Our sources informed us that Ralph “Buck” Wimberly, brother of city superintendent Roger Wimberly, has been arrested on a Theft charge as of about 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Wimberly was on suspension while an investigation went on in a case wherein he and his superintendent brother were accused of cutting up old junk cars while on city time and with city equipment, then while still on city time, taking the scrap over to Dumes in Vincennes.

We don’t have any documents on the case; all this would have happened after the courthouse closed today, so it’ll be Monday before we can issue any information off them. Therefore we’re not sure how a “theft” count was generated from this, but that’s what our sources are confirming for us.

More as we get it; keep checking back.
