INTERNET PROSTITUTION SITE BUSTED BY WEST FRANKFORT POLICE
WEST FRANKFORT—Prostitution was apparently alive and well and in full (alleged) swing in the town of West Frankfort…until about a couple of days ago, thanks to police chief Jeff Tharpe and his crew.
According to information coming out of West Frankfort, Tharpe’s department had received information that a website, operating as backpage.com, was offering a portion of their site for “female escorts”…who were actually prostitutes.
West Frankfort, it turned out, was in the “service area” of these prostitutes, and “they were conducting unlawful acts in our town,” Tharpe said in a press release.
“On September 11, 2012, and undercover operation was launched into these crimes,” Tharpe’s PR said. “We contacted these prostitutes and they came to West Frankfort and solicited sex acts in exchange for currency. Some of the prostitutes were accompanied by others for protection or oversight.”
Throughout the night, Tharpe said, his agency arrested the following seven adults for prostitution:
April E. Snowden, 27, of Benton
Donald V. Snowden, 30, of Murphysboro
Dianne E. Behrens, 28, of Carbondale
Shareece L. Frye, 22, of Salem
Thomas L. Mapp, 22, of Springfield
Morgan M. Jones, 27, of Carrier Mills
Amanda DJ Rathert, 23, Carbondale
It’s unclear whether Tharpe pointed out that the ones arrested were “adults” because there were also juveniles involved, or what….we’re looking into it.
It’s also our understanding that the males involved were the pimps of the group.

You would be surprised how often this happens. Many travel to Mt Vernon to work the truck stops.
Reminds me of an old trucker I knew making a reference to ‘Lot Lizards’; I had to look it up LOL. Backpage and Craigslist are breeding grounds for prostitution and scams. Apparently the victims aren’t the only ones surfing those sites.
It’s the oldest profession on record! As long as men are willing to pay, women are gonna play….even the really nasty ones! I try not to be rude, but someone paid MONEY (or have in the past, I realize this was a sting) to screw these women?! Talk about hard up! No pun intended of course :p
