Young woman found “flopping” on roadway from possible severe beating: UPDATE
UPDATE #5: Police sources have indicated that they will be interviewing sometime today the two girls (we will not name at this time) that witnesses say beat Ms. Johnson last night.
UPDATE #4: Sources are now indicating that Johnson was transported to Carle Clinic, in Urbana last night for treatment of her injuries. Sources are hearing that Johnson remembers nothing of the beating. Keep checking for updates.
UPDATE #3: Witnesses say Johnson was beaten by two sisters who live in the area. The witnesses indicate it started after Johnson allegedly told one of the sisters’ boyfriends that she had been cheating on him. That, again according to witnesses, prompted one of the sisters to get her sibling and call Johnson out of her house in the 400 block of East Kentucky St. The pair were then seen beating Johnson until she was unconscious at which time they began kicking her in the head.
UPDATE #2: Sources indicate that Johnson is sleeping due to the amount of medication she has been given as part of her treatment for unknown injuries.
UPDATE #1: Harley Walters Johnson is still alive and being treated for unknown injuries. She is said to be “sleeping” but it is unknown if that means she is in a coma or merely resting.
OBLONG, ILL.—
According to county sources, police responded to East Kentucky St., in Oblong at approximately 11:30 p.m. last night (Sept. 7) believing a female may have been involved in a fight.
Shortly after they arrived they noticed 20-year-old Harley Walters Johnson having a seizure and asked emergency responders to “step it up.”
After transporting Johnson to Crawford County Memorial Hospital authorities contacted Arvin Moden of the Oblong Children’s Home to get her family information because she had lived at the home in recent years.
Originally from St. Joe, near Champaign, Ill., Johnson’s condition is not known at this time but sources indicate her family, has been contacted and they are “on their way” from St. Joe to Crawford County.
One source claims they believe the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Technician is in Oblong. But they do not know for sure it is connected to the Johnson case.
Sources also indicate that not only was Johnson beaten by as many as two other girls, but that authorities know who the girls are.
We will bring you updates as details come available.
