TEEN’S BODY FOUND; MALE FRIEND STILL MISSING

UPDATE #3, 12:50 A.M. TUESDAY

Two major updates: Jacob Wheeler’s wife, Michele Hillier Wheeler, has advised us via Facebook that authorities were telling her, at about the time we were being told Mr. Wheeler’s body had been found, that they were STILL SEARCHING FOR HIM. We don’t know what this means, as regards whether it’s a manhunt, or a desperate search to find him before harm comes to him from someone else. But that’s what she’s telling us.

The second thing is: our initial source on the manner in which the truck was spotted is being corrected; the truck was spotted by a boy riding a four-wheeler. We’ve had multiple confirmations on this correction.

Michele Hillier Wheeler is reportedly in either Texas or Florida. When we learn more, we’ll get it to you, but do check our Facebook page, as she’s been posting comments there.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these two; this is a tragedy no matter which way it goes…but we do hope Jacob Wheeler is found safe.

We’re hearing from sources in the search that Jacob Wheeler’s body has been found, and that he has been shot. Our sources are hearing that Jessica was also shot. We know nothing further. Please be patient as the site is running slowly from the load, and we thank you in advance. Our sympathies, as well, to the families of those involved in this tragedy.

UPDATE #1, 7:25 P.M.

Here’s what we’re learning.

According to MULTIPLE sources, including family, the body of Jessica Evans was discovered in the bed of the truck other sources are saying they’re still searching for (the Dodge pickup Jacob Wheeler was driving), parked near the Little Wabash River north of the Centerville area where they had been fishing; in an attempt to obscure the body, it appeared to have been hidden with debris (limbs, leaves, vegetation, etc). The truck was spotted by an airplane. We don’t know who was flying the plane; whether it was someone tooling around the Carmi-White County airport, or whether it was an official search for her.

These same sources are indicating that Jacob is being searched for by dogs. We don’t know if this is a body search, or an on the run search. There are dogs involved, though.

Reports from people close to the family say that Jessica was last seen by people in McDonald’s in Carmi Saturday night, with Jacob. All appeared to be well. Her mother reportedly last heard from her shortly after midnight Sunday morning by phone, after she caught her first fish. After Jessica didn’t appear for work at 5 a.m. Sunday morning, her cell phone pings were searched and came back to a tower in the Crossville area, which is just south of Centerville.
