INCIDENT AT GALATIA MINE IS UNDER CONTROL

GALATIA—An incident at American Coal in Galatia had a bunch of worried people hanging on the edge today, but for now, all is under control.

There was, we have confirmed, a wall that fell and trapped one Luke Jones, son of Equality resident Tracy Jones (who is the brother of convicted funeral home director John B. Jones of Equality). Ops were shut or slowed down for a time while he was tended to, but things are back up and running. Jones is reported as having been trapped for that short time, but he was pulled free and is reportedly doing okay.

Thanks to those who tipped us on the incident. Glad all is well at one of Saline County’s biggest employers.
