THIS MONTH’S PRINT HEADLINES, AUGUST SPECIAL EDITION 2012!
Here are your print headlines for the new Disclosure August Special Edition 2012. This is the annual summer special edition; we’ve done an extra one every July, or every first week in August and last week in August, since 2009, because July and August each have 31 days, thus forcing “five-week” months, and there’s just too much news to not give you a paper every three weeks between July and september…so here we are.
Each headline is preceded by the dateline (where the subject material in the article occurred) and followed by a brief synopsis. With any good fortune, we’ll also begin linking headlines to the e-version, which we’ll be bringing to you BEFORE the print version becomes available starting with the next issue, August-September 2012 on stands August 29. You spoke, we listened.
LAWRENCE CO.—Questions arise over warrant in drug bust: The bizarre weekend poor CC Cochran and Jerri Lynn Leighty experienced in mid-July after a wreck that CC wasn’t even involved in.
RICHLAND CO.—Thug reveals connection with county prosecutor: Everybody wondered where Casey King tooled off to after Scott Earp was fatally shot. Now we know.
GALLATIN CO.—Tragedy on the Ohio: More info about the sad drowning death of toddler Charisma McGuire than what we even had the night it happened.
SALINE CO.—Feds surround, shut down pharmacy; reopened hours later: What’s going on with Steve Patton? We examine the whole issue….and there’s little doubt that this is just the beginning of the glimpse you got here on the website…be sure you get this issue, because you’ll be wanting to collect each one of them before THIS is through.
CLAY CO.—Elderly man charged with sex offense: The story of what Ellery Thomas is alleged to have done to a child is strange. What he is alleged to have done several years ago, and who he was alleged to have been hanging around with and what THEY were doing, is stranger.
XENIA—Edgingtons, attorney continue to run the show at fire department board: You might think Xenia (in Clay and Wayne counties) is such a little nowhere place that we shouldn’t be featuring it so prominently in the paper…but you’d be wrong. Because what’s happening here is so wrong, and so endemic, that if you don’t read & pay attention to it, you may not be able to recognize it when it happens in YOUR town or little burg.
ELIZABETHTOWN—Beating remains a mystery: What happened to Norma Jean Cox a couple of weekends ago? We still don’t know…and E-town, closed off to the rest of humanity (and even their own citizens), won’t say. Another one of those damn towns that think they can’t stymie media’s—and the public’s—right to know.
EDWARDS CO.—After a year and a half, charges brought against woman in Senior Center thievery: The story we covered extensively in early 2011 finally came to charges. We were RIGHT again, this time about an active ISP investigation, even though ISP (and mainstream media, because ISP wouldn’t confirm to them) tried to deny it.
EDGAR/RICHLAND COs.—Edgar County deputy busted out in ISP reports: Dee Burgin, loser…something else we were RIGHT about. And now, we have ISP reports to prove it. Be picking up this copy, Richland…because we’re probably going to be right about this tub of lard moving HERE shortly, too.
LAWRENCE CO.—As the worm turns: Bars in Lawrence having a rough way to go after sales tax fiascos: When you collect sales tax, you need to forward it right along to the state, right? But when you don’t do that…then you have to go to your handlers to borrow the money not once, but TWICE…there’s something else going on besides being lazy and shirking responsibilities, wouldn’t you say?
GALLATIN CO.—Fast and furious a bit too fast for accused batterer: Goofyass court doings in GallCo, home of Raymondo Martin….
LAWRENCE CO.—Former alleged antagonist now arrested for battery: Austin Maugh’s name has never been in our paper. The little backstory to that statement is included in this article.
HAMILTON CO.—Car thefts and beatings dominate Ham blotter: The headline says it all.
CLAY CO.—Precursors, unserved warrants and damage to mailboxes: These are just the MINOR things going on in Clay….wait’ll you see the bigguns.
LAWRENCE CO.—Liquor sting lands a handful with citations, fines & fees: The state police gathered up a couple of 20-year-olds who look 30 & sent them in to the local bars and liquor stores. Fines & fees ensue.
WABASH CO.—Theft, knife attack, drugs and fondling are focus of police blotter: A well-rounded crim round-up if I do say so myself.
JASPER CO.—Stolen vehicle, trailer, and Agg Batt/Home Invasion in Jasper: More “headline says it all.”
HARDIN CO.—Beaten woman charged with head-butting police officer: Strange stories always emerge from Hardin. This is one of them.
WHITE CO.–White dopers include shoplifting and a fake ‘script: Them White dopers…getting more and more desperate all the time.
SALINE CO.—Drunk reportedly beats two women unconscious: Shannon Hale, at it again…he’s seriously a mean drunk.
RICHLAND CO.—Wife of Earp victim in trouble over alleged forged check: If I were Heather English, I’d have crawled under a rock by now and just made do with what I had. But I’m not, and she didn’t, so here’s a story about it.
HARDIN CO.—Sex-for-pills vial internet case charged on state level: Heather Marie Banks, charged in fed court, now has been charged in Hardin for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault. Who knew that getting her hands on some pain pills would prove to screw up her life so much….?
GALLATIN CO.—Scates charged with providing alcohol to minors: Same story, different day…totally nothing outcome.
SALINE CO.—Fracas over beer & groceries sparks violent clash: Some truly bizarre stories come out of Harrisburg. This is one of them.
LAWRENCE CO.—Pusillanimous punk PeeWee purposely not providing for progeny: Alliteration aside, it’s pretty sad that a cop has to have the state come after him just to get him to pay his child support. Talk about deadbeat…
SALINE CO.—Teen with dope caught driving with no plate, no rear mirror and no license: Remember what I said about bizarre stories coming out of Harrisburg…? Extend that outward to all of Saline County.
RICHLAND CO.—Man faces 180 years on child molestation charges: A crim roundup in Richland, featuring Norman Andy Deisher and others.
WABASH CO.—‘Former’ MMA fighter gets off light with Involuntary Manslaughter charge: Follow-up to the Jeremy Birkla/Billy Gunzel story featured here over the months.
CLAY CO.—Clay County photog/musician/felon is headliner at Wayne County fest: One sick little story, which we almost missed because his plea was so quiet…had it not been for a concerned parent, we might have. You gotta read it to know.
RICHLAND CO.—Prosecutor not fighting crime too hard: What’s David Hyde up to these days, after his stunning loss in the Brandon Jenkins case? Not much, as you’ll see by this article.
LAWRENCE CO.—Husseys among those charged in drug roundup: It’s been a phenomenal month for meth in Lawrence, but it isn’t all meth…it’s losers like the ones featured here, too.
HARDIN CO.—Out-of-towner busted with cocaine, local charged with meth: The drug report coming out of Hardin, complete with some repeat offenders, including Nathan Humm and Tina Williams.
GALLATIN/JACKSON COs.—Tina Martin set for jury selection this month: The story that Tina made obsolete before this issue even hit the stands, damn her skinny ass.
U.S. DISTRICT COURT, BENTON/SALINE CO.—Local woman hemmed up in federal court on meth charges: We learned the name of the Jerry Springer episode that Floozy Suzy Bauer (other assorted names) was in, and are going to try to get a clip from it. In the meantime, she’s in federal holding pending sentencing on fed meth charges. Imagine that.
RICHLAND CO.—Russians at the college: Young man busted on DUI: This guy has been nothing but trouble for months….someone needs to send him home. Comrade.
WHITE CO.—Special prosecutor called in to handle jailer charged with sex crime: Coverage of White Co’s correctional officer alleged to have had sexual contact with a young girl…but backstory info shows this might be a bit of a different story than what we’ve learned so far.
CRAWFORD CO.—Case of alleged child molestation on constant continuances in Crawford—Strange little tale about Terry Smith and allegations of child sex abuse by a family who has claimed three other men have molested the same child.
LAWRENCE CO.—More meth in Lawrence Vegas as the void left by drug dealing pimp attempts to be filled: Nature abhors a vacuum, and apparently there’s a meth void in Lawrence County….but it’s hard to tell who the makers are versus who the cops SAY the makers are. This is one of those iffy ones; followed by one of those ‘for sure’ ones.
LAWRENCEVILLE—Rolling meth lab alleged; tree on U.S. 50 is only victim: More Lawrence County meth making…and one scarred-up tree.
SALINE CO.—Thief leaves wallet at scene, cries in cruiser: Curtis Lyle Goolsby wins ‘stupid criminal of the month’ award for Saline County.

LAWRENCE CO.—Mayor’s henchman ordered not to stalk young woman: Jody Harshman. He’s all cleaned up now. Found Jesus. I mean, he’s still driving around without a license as far as latest reports, but hey…he’s a churchgoing man now. And the girl who took out the OP against him? Well, they’re back together now, and she’s taken out one against someone else. More on that in upcoming issues.
RICHLAND CO.—County board hears pig proposal: Really…we don’t want a pig farm on this side of Richland. We already have Brian James O’Neill, after all.
LETTERS: Of paper clips and Molly Young; Please come to Metropolis (we didn’t have very many letters this month at all…our freaked-out crazy religious nut hasn’t sent anything in a month…durn…)
