Vehicle reported in the water in Old Shawneetown, near Bunge: UPDATE

OLD SHAWNEETOWN—A truck belonging to a family that was fishing at the Ohio earlier this evening fell out of gear and rolled into the water, injuring the father…and with a baby still inside.

Sources on scene indicate that the family included parents (the mom being pregnant), and a two-year-old child. The baby was apparently sleeping in the cab of the truck, strapped in to a car seat. Apparently the baby kicked the truck out of gear and it began rolling down the bank in the Bungay section of Old Town. The father was injured when the truck either rolled over him, or he attempted to get it stopped and failed. The truck rolled into the water and submerged quickly. Our sources say that at 9:15, the truck had been underwater for 45 minutes to an hour. Worse, those at the scene are now reporting (9:30) that they simply can’t find the truck.

Two ambulance services, Saline County (CORRECTION) Gallatin County and MedForce, along with all rescue in the county, are on scene. We have photos coming. We do not have names yet. Please keep checking back, and keep this family in your prayers.

10:19pm UPDATE: Reports are that divers are now out of the water, one boat still dragging the water and a new dive team from Marrs Township (over by Evansville, IN) are now on scene. They are setting up to do sonar scans. More when we have it.

11:02pm UPDATE: Perry County Rescue is now also on scene to assist. Marrs County Rescue are now doing sonar to locate the vehicle that is still, as yet, un-located with the child inside.

11:56pm UPDATE: The vehicle has NOT been located yet, contrary to rumors. This is confirmed: Coroner has not been called in. Those on scene report that State Police Investigator was called and on scene earlier. That may have added to some confusion. But no confirmed reports of the coroner being called out. Rescuers believe they have narrowed the location of the vehicle down to a 75% probability.

Rescuers have roped off the area and are asking for people not to come or may risk impeding the rescue. We will bring you the news so the rescuers, divers and professionals can do what they are trained to do best.

BREAKING: 12:12am UPDATE: They HAVE just located the truck, a stepside Ford Ranger. It is reported to be under 50 foot of water and approximately 100 feet from the bank. Again Coroner has NOT been call yet. There may still be hope. Keep the prayers coming!

12:35am UPDATE: Confirmed, contrary to rumors, the baby HAS NOT been found yet. Keep those prayers coming now more than ever!

12:44am UPDATE: Truck located. Divers are headed out of the water and the tow truck is almost on scene. The child has still not been located. More as we get it.

12:57am UPDATE: Again another confirmation from rescuers: The child HAS NOT been located yet. They are preparing to pull the truck out of the water. Keep checking back and try to follow OUR facebook post. Again, please try not to spread rumors. We are updating as often as we can.

12:57AM BREAKING: Diver have just now dove down to look for the child.

1:23am UPDATE: Tow truck just arrived on scene. Rescue workers are being moved back to pull the truck out. Still no word on finding the child yet.

2:03am UPDATE: Divers are having problem attaching the tow line to the vehicle. It is moving in the current.

3:30am UPDATE: Unfortunately divers have as still not been able to attach the tow line to the vehicle. The current has moved the vehicle before the tow truck arrived. It truck is currently lost and rescuers are again searching for it. Our multi sources have since left the scene to attend other calls. We pray that rescue workers continue their tiring and dangerous work and we will report details when we can. If anyone is on scene and would like to provide updates, please PM us. Our hearts go out to the family. This may be the last update until morning.

3:48am UPDATE: Was notified that indeed the windows were down on the truck and the mother had gotten some of the seat belts off before it went under water. So there is a chance that the child may NOT even be inside the vehicle any more.
