Body found in car on city boat ramp
MT. CARMEL—Reports of the body of an elderly woman being found in her car Friday on the city boat ramp in Mt. Carmel have been confirmed by officials.
According to officials, the vehicle was found partially submerged on the city’s boat ramp at the Wabash River.
Updated information has it that witnesses saw the vehicle, a white 1999 Mercury four-door sedan, traveling down Fifth Street toward the ramp at a high rate of speed about 8 am yesterday morning, 05.25.12. The car drove down off the ramp and into the water, where it began to submerge. Two residents with a boat, along with a conservation officer, were able to hook up the car with a winch and pull it back out, whereupon they found the woman behind the wheel deceased.
There is no confirmation on the elderly woman’s age, no on the cause of death. It’s unclear when the car was found, but unofficially, sources say this occurred this morning.
When we know more, we’ll bring it….keep checking back.

have you heard anything on this?
Yes, sorry, been up all night working out technical issues on the expansion. Her name was Agnes Girten. One of her kids was an instructor at WVC for awhile years ago when Ang went there; Ang knew who she was. Don’t know why she did what she did, but she died from drowning, so she was still breathing when her car went under the water.
