OLNEY—Here’s a few shots from the ParaCon yesterday, 04.28.12, held at the Olney VFW!

Our Saturday afternoon was filled with covering the ParaCon, held for the purpose of introducing the public to the very popular subject of the paranormal and those who investigate it for a hobby/pastime. Olney Paranormal Investigators hosted, and representatives from Paranormal Investigators of Midwest America (PIMA) from Mattoon were also on hand. There were plenty of presentations, such as the above photo which shows Disclosure columnist/author Michael Kleen of Rockford, who gave a presentation on the 10 Most Haunted Places in Illinois….fascinating stuff, about which he’d written in  his books Haunting Illinois: A Tourist’s Guide to the Weird and Wild Places of the Prairie State, and Paranormal Illinois, two top-selling books on Amazon.com.

Above is the team of Olney Paranormal Investigators, who were featured in the March-April 2012 issue of Disclosure, lead by Erik Saieg (second from left), shown here with equipment they use in their investigations. All investigations are free of charge, and many have been in the immediate area, including Olney, Robinson, Flora and other nearby locations.

A very popular portion of the program was Michelle Ollis’ presentation, in which she explained how she does psychic readings…and which many present took advantage of. Michelle grew up with a grandmother who had extraordinary sensory perception and believed it to be the way everyone saw things, until she learned that those in her family had special perceptive gifts.

The event was a fun one, and received pretty good coverage, so Olney folks are looking forward to another in the future!

  1. Paranormal convention indeed.

    • We forced the ODM to show up & cover it by giving so much advance coverage….we heard a lot of buzz about that set of articles. I didn’t know the subject was so popular. We don’t have TV so we don’t pay attention to the ghosty shows. Michael was on one of them last October; Ghost Adventurers I think.
