HORROR IN HARRISBURG: WESTBORO BAPTIST FREAKS WANT TO DESCEND UPON FUNERALS
We’re about to withdraw our support for the First Amendment under certain circumstances.
In the past, we’ve actually appeared to “take the side” of the looney-tunes Westboro Baptist Church out in some damn place in Kansas. It’s never been because we believe in what they do. They’re nuts. But because they’re doubly protected in Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion under the First Amendment, we’ve up to this point defended their right to protest funerals, which they’ve been doing for the better part of the past five years in misguided attempts to convince people that soldiers’ deaths during time of war are due to America’s acceptance of homosexuality. You know….the “God hates Fags” sign wavers? Yup. Nutcases.
Well, we’re over that. And we wish now that they’d just shut the fuck up and burn in that hell they keep espousing. Below, you’ll see why.
These pointless bags of human flesh are saying they’re going to be in Harrisburg Saturday morning for the first funerals of those who lost their lives in yesterday’s (Feb. 29) tornado. They say that Harrisburg’s wickedness is what brought the EF4 down on them. They say that the six known (reported) deaths are because of God’s vengeful wrath and showing Illinois who’s Boss. Yep, our state legislature is the reason why these six are deceased.
Well we—and a host of people we know—are saying BULLSHIT to that.
A group is getting organized, therefore, to fight this. It can’t be fought via laws; it can’t be fought with weapons; so it’s going to be fought with common sense.
This group is going to form a “human shield” Saturday between the grieving and the freaks. We’ve been contacted by the group’s organizer, who’s asked us to start getting the word out. There’s a Facebook page, so please plan to clear your schedule for Saturday morning, click “join” and plan to attend. The communities stricken by the storm have shown some of the most amazing, charitable, hospitable, and generous spirit we’ve ever seen….and we’ve covered a lot of disasters in our combined 30-some years in media. So Saturday, make plans to join the human shield, being called “Shield of Support,” and let’s show these Kansas cretins that they’re nothing by comparison to the caring people in southern Illinois….NONE of whom “deserved” anything bad to happen to them, through ANYONE’S actions, their own or others’.
More to come. Keep checking back.

Up to 1,397 as of 11:30am.Over 12,000 invited to help stop the WBC
Typically, WBC will send communication to law enforcement advising their intent to protest and request protection. They have NOT sent any communication to local LE, just some lip service on a blog. If you are familiar with WBC, you know their main income is from litigation. Litigation stemming from LACK of protection from law enforcement. Their M.O. is simple– #1 request protection(with hopes they don’t get it), #2 get asses kicked & sue LE for not providing sufficient protection. #3 collect settlement– simple.
I won’t pretend to know their actual intent but at this time the only information comes from a blog that is likely a minion of the not-so-great “church”. Any formal requests for LE protection will surely “leak” into public ears. (My 2 cents)Until you hear it from a credible source, I wouldn’t sweat it too much.
…in this instance, if these bible thumpin’ lunatics do indeed show up, here’s hoping’ their “WBC” monogram turns out to stand for “Well Beaten Christians.”
They protest Military funerals all around. I have seen them at too many. Military families and communities are families. However, they have not seen the family bond and strengths of Harrisburg. I feel they should not be allowed inside city limits. They are horrible people who are going to get the biggest bite from Karma they could ever have. Who gives them the authority to say it’s good HBG was hit…and they are Christians…I think not. Hate and Stupid are both bad plans but I can say I Hate those Stupid WBC people and think they are bout to get bit by some Bulldogs
Negative exposure usually offsets their appearance. In the other instances where they actually DID show up, local law enforcement were VERY QUIETLY letting mainstream media outlets know…and then the MSM outlets published something very, very mild about it. In one memorable instance (in Mt. Carmel) they didn’t even say WBC’s NAME!!! People didn’t know what was about to happen. And then they were outraged when they found out. In the cases where the media overblows it and prepares the public for their appearance, whether it’s implied or outright stated, WBC sees that they’re going to be met with hostility, and they alter their plans.
So in other words, we may have just offset them from appearing in Harrisburg.
Good job, folks.
I certainly hope they rethink their trek to this part of the state…it’ll be worse than Bulldogs after their sorry asses…and they are NOT Christians..they are what is called FAKERS..big fanfare..quoting, judging and otherwise wanting the spotlight..well got news for you …take you roadshow someplace else!
For some time I have wondered why the local (MSM) mainstream media has not covered the fact that the Presbyterians condone ordaining gay ministers, elders, and deacons? Here is a link to The New York Times, May 10, 2011, publishing the issue. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/11/us/11presbyterian.html
Why would the Westboro Baptist Church not protest the issue of a Denomition ordaining a gay minister? Likewise, Reuters Chicago published, May 10, 2011,
A majority of the 173 regions, or presbyteries, supported the long-debated change in the constitution of the 2.3-million member Presbyterian Church (USA) that will permit gay candidates to be ordained clergy, elders and deacons, church sources said. It totally escapes me why WBS would elect to protest where people that are at the sadest moment in their life, at a place to show respect, and mourn. At Whitney Houstons’ funeral the preacher stated, a friend said, a friend told me he wished he had met Jesus before he met the Christian. One of the most popular videos on Youtube is, I hate religions but I love Jesus.
