WE ARE EN ROUTE TO HARRISBURG, STRUCK BY A TORNADO 3 HOURS AGOPosted by Jack Howser on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 @ 8:35 am.
Harrisburg was struck by a tornado this morning in the pre-dawn hours; we’re hearing it was at about 5:30 a.m. Our sources are telling us that the collection of homes on the backside or in the vicinity of Walmart was demolished. The city has called for mutual aid from surrounding communities and they are responding. Without naming names, but this will give you a good idea of how solid our sources are, we have no photos because most of our sources are the ones out doing to first responder work. We are on the way to Harrisburg right now to get the photos ourselves. When we get them, we’ll post them. If you have any and want to share, please feel free to email them (if you have a signal; we’re hearing it’s nonexistent to spotty at best) to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll post em.
In the meantime here’s a shot of the strip mall area devastation as posted by Gibson County Communique’s Facebook, reposted from WSIL’s Facebook:
