Report of possible suicide in Saline County: UPDATE
SALINE CO.—We’ve received word of a possible suicide occurring January 2 in the Carrier Mills area.
The body of Cody Lee Cowger, 22, was reportedly located at a residence on Tuller Road outside Carrier Mills; initial reports had Cowger being found in a vehicle, but those reports have remained unconfirmed at this time.
It’s the understanding of the friends of this young man that he was going through a divorce and that it was causing an inordinate amount of grief for him.
Officially, our sources have indicated that the Saline County Sheriff’s Department received a call just after 4 pm yesterday, January 2, regarding a death on Tuller Road outside Carrier Mills. The report to the SCDC indicated that the young man shot himself.
Unofficially, our sources have indicated that he’d gotten a job out-of-state, but that he’d been home for the holidays.
Unfortunately for the grieving, suicides are considered crimes, and here at Disclosure, we cover crime as well as corruption and all the other weird things that go on here in southern Illinois. While you may feel like lashing out at us for reporting this, an obituary does not tell the details of a crime, and since reporting crime is what we are here to do (and also since we don’t do obituaries), we are going to give those details as they emerge. Instead of railing at us, you have the option of leaving this page and not burdening yourself with the facts as they are presented, but instead, going about your business of grieving, comforting others, and getting comfort yourself. Whether you believe it or not, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time, and we hope you all can come to a point of healing without blaming other people for merely doing their jobs.

This is so sad! I know his family. May God see them through their this time & grief!! =(
Ooops…through this time and their grief.. =(
S&S you are so right…I don’t know the family but my heart goes out to them.
Sundance, it is indeed very heartbreaking for anyone to feel like the only way to deal with something(well, not to)is to commit suicide. Just a very sad situation all the way around.
Jack or Ang, Huh? Did I somehow miss-word my comment?
Eh? What was your concern about it, Sweets?
Jack, well, as you know I’ve been without my computer until today. So when I was trying to catch up with the happenings on here, I didn’t know if you took my comment as lashing out at you all when I read the last paragraph. After I thought about it, I’m sure you have had calls from family members of his and that is who is lashing out.
