UPDATE W/PHOTO: Water main break in E-town; school’s off Tuesday
ELIZABETHTOWN—There’s been a major water main break in Elizabethtown 08.22.11, in the vicinity of the school….and the water was just flowing, gushing up out of this break. Of course, it’s not drinkable because there’s been problems with e. coli contamination. There’s been a boil order there ad infinitum. We hear this particular main has been leaking for a month, this per folks at the school, so it’s not like E-town didn’t know about it.
To exacerbate the situation, there’s a little issue of who’s mayor in that burg right now…and it’s looking like it’s Heck Rose, not Tommy Seiner. From what we’re gathering, there was some kind of technical glitch that occurred when Seiner was instated as village prez two weeks ago. We believe it might have to do with going into executive session. We heard from a couple of people that the board went into closed session to select the prez. It’s not supposed to be done that way; that’s not personnel, so it’s not an exemption from an open meeting (not like that ever stopped E-town before). So looks like Heck’s it….and from what we understand from a source who knows what’s going on, there’s no school Tuesday (today), because right now, there’s no water. And they don’t have a water superintendent, either. But you can read about that in the print version that will be at the Rose Hotel this morning….watch for updates. Since Hardin is the place cell phone reception goes to die, we’ll advise you when we’re leaving Gallatin County, then you time it at about 25-30 minutes, and that’s when we’ll be there.
Send us a pic if you have em….we’d like to see this phenomenon of the gushing water and the two ‘mayors’ trying to figure out what to do….

Is ed the water dept superintendent also?
He might be, now. Jack may know, he’s keeping up with this.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least, however if he is taking a leave of absence they might be able to make him die of thirst…just an idea for those who are wishin he would kick off soon and let the town live in peace! =(
I am surprised ED is not the water supeintendent. Him and his wife sandy was controling the water at one tim and Ed has all the other jobs tied up.
