WHITE CO.—Illinois State Police (ISP) District 19 released information concerning a fatal traffic crash, which occurred in White County on Friday, 08.19.11 at approximately 7:25 a.m.
According to Illinois State Police District 19, Troopers investigated a fatal traffic crash on the Herald Road approximately 500 feet north of White County Road 725 N, involving a 1999 Dodge Neon and a 2008 Ford F-550 truck.
The preliminary traffic crash investigation indicated that the 1999 Dodge Neon, driven by Dakota Jones, age 17, of Norris City, Illinois, was traveling northbound on the Herald Road near White County Road 725 N, when he drove off the roadway to the right. Jones drove the vehicle back onto the roadway, and lost control before striking a 2008 Ford F-550, driven by Earnest Conner, 59, of Crossville, in the southbound lane.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by the White County Coroner. Conner was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment of injuries.
In addition to the Illinois State Police, the White County Sheriff’s Department, the White County Coroner’s office, the White County Ambulance, and White County Fire and Rescue responded to the crash scene.
