The criminal DREAM Act: who to blame

On May 30, the so-called Illinois “DREAM Act” (SB-2185) passed the Illinois legislature and it was signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn on August 1st. Ostensibly, the bill creates a private college scholarship fund available to children of immigrants. The language of the bill requires that the funds be made available “to any individual with a valid social security number or taxpayer identification number for the benefit of any individual with a valid social security number or taxpayer identification number.”

However, it has widely been reported in the Chicago Tribune and elsewhere that the scholarship funds will be available to immigrants that are here legally as well as illegally.

In order for an illegal immigrant to receive scholarship funds, they must be fraudulently in possession of a social security number or taxpayer identification number. Anyone who uses the Illinois “DREAM Act” to give scholarship money to illegal immigrants is aiding in the commission of a crime.

If it was the intention of Illinois legislators to provide a scholarship fund for illegal immigrants, they too are guilty of aiding and abetting criminal acts. If you are a law enforcement officer or state prosecutor, it is your job to protect the laws and the sovereignty of the United States. It is my suggestion that the following sponsors of SB-2185 be taken in for questioning, and if it can be demonstrated that it was their intention to provide scholarships to illegal immigrants, they should be arrested for aiding in the commission of a crime.

  1. Usually I find the things that this paper rallies around quaint and shortsided, but I agree with you 100% on this (well except for the arresting nonsense).

Quite simply and without politics involved, we don’t have the money to spend on these types of things. I’m an odd duck in that I fall to the Left on most issues except those dealing with “entitlements”. For one I don’t like that word; sounds like they are Entitled to something just by being born. Which most of the Welfare Queens feel they are entitled to live off the State. Just leave SS alone. WORKING people pay into that. That should NEVER be touched by ANYONE except the pensioners that paid into it. The other “entitlements” like Welfare and Disability, cut em. Hell get rid of em. Society will deal with those that will not fend for themselves. Welfare is a joke and Disability is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY abused by people. Alcoholism is NOT a disease. It is a weakness that does not need to be coddled by giving them free money to get drunk off of.

ANYWAY… I’m glad to see you taking up this fight, though it prolly won’t get far, with the taking of prisoners you are advocating and all.

P.S. I’m surprised to see a few (R) in that list. I would have thought that they would stay well clear of this. I guess us dirty hippie Dems got to a few! :p

  2. Well I believe they should be arrested, and thrown into a prison cell. Giving aid/education to an illegal immigrant is illegal and it should be a law that is upheld. Of course it would be a cold day in Hell if we ever proved their intention was to aid the illegals as they can claim any reason they wish, just the same as you or I can wish for their arrest for any reason we so choose! What their intentions actually were and what are provable is hard to decipher if not impossible. There are many reasons these law makers should be arrested and one of them is extortion. Let me explain. They vote for ways to waste money, spend it frivolously, give big campaign contributors tax breaks and special favors…and if you think these new laws have stopped this crap you must believe I have a title to the Golden Gate Bridge as well and its for sale btw! These guys do dirty deals that would make Blagojevich look like a Saint! They are mostly voting for things that are ruining this country and doing very little to represent the folks who elected them. I can’t say this bill alone should be the only reason we change the faces in Springfield and Washington D C but it coupled with other dirty deals they do daily is enough that if you or I had done the same we would certainly be eating a Soy based diet and wearing a striped outfit! No its not right and those sap suckers should face more severe consequences than you or I as they are supposed to be an example….the fact is they wont be because all the wussies out there wont stand up for themselves and say enough is enough. If someone doesn’t do something soon we will be breakin into Mexico for a job as the unemployment rate there is 4% so they claim. If anyone wants this country around for their children and grandchildren then by golly we better be thinkin of what we are going to be doin to save this nation. The problems in Springfield and Washington are way bigger than any one person can fix. We all need to pull together and change the way things are done in politics before its to late!

    • Look I will not disagree with you on any of your points. But calling for arrests is unwarranted. No laws have been broken. Now if someone wants to pull an ACORN move and set them up to give money to an illegal then go ahead.

Again I’m 100% against this program simply because we don’t have the money for it. In principle it’s a good idea. Better to have educated immigrants contributing to society then the ones that are illiterate English-wise and doing nothing. But lets do that AFTER we have got ourselves out of this mess.

      • What do you want to do teach them how to fly airplanes so they can do what the crazy Arabs did in 2001? Have you Forgotten? Come on man we don’t have to wait on an actual law being broke to decide to take a stand for ourselves and we shouldn’t wait on the next bunch of illegal non US Citizens to rob from us before we say hey we need to stop this crap. Let me ask you something. If you see a soft spot in the floor do you fix it or wait til someone falls thru the damn thing? I hope you would fix it but in the sense of the country you wish to say let someone fall thru it and that my friend is ridiculous!

  3. @R.I.F. You bobblehead disability IS social security. I worked and paid in from 1978 through 2004. The last couple of years I worked I was in so much pain and no doctor that I went to could figure out what was wrong. They fina xZley said I had fibromyalgia and that I would never work again. It took me 2 years of not working, not bringing in a penny, and running up medical bills and losing everything that I had worked so hard to get and only then I got my disability. And I make a measly 1076 dollars a month. Try that sometime and see how you like it. Now I have the best Doctor ever and he has figured out that I have three ruptured disks in my lower back, one of which I am recovering from fusion of L5/S1. I am facing 2 more surgeries on my lower back and if that all goes well then I may decide to have something done on the 2 ruptured disks in my neck. So no disability is not something that you can luck into so you don’t have to go to work every day and you get a great big check every month.

    • And this is why I rarely comment here. Insults thrown around if you don’t agree with someone.

And no SS is not the same. I’m talking about the retirement plan that was set up in the 30′s that working people pay into for their retirement. Not the “Oh I’m hurt pay me” crap you are on. Big difference. I HOPE that none of my hard earned money is put towards Disability. Though I don’t expect SS to be around by the time I retire.

AND not that it’s anybody’s business but I make just a little more than you do it looks like. I do just fine thank you. It’s called “living within your means”. More people should try it. Like the whole damn country!

    • @bbboomer,
I am not aiming what I’m about to say at you so please dont take offense as I believe you qualify for any disability you can get. It was set aside for the elderly and those with true disabilities. However some have decided and I would go so far as to say a majority of those on SSI are abusing the system as they do work harder at finding some source to give them money than they would actually have to work at a job making a decent wage. Some have even took advantage of the system in the fact they fried their own brain on dope or did other things intentionally just to get SSI. I am not saying that you did this I am merely saying a bunch of knuckleheads have and it has bankrupted SSI. It has made it to where I may not be able to retire before age 85. That is the point I believe a commentor made in an earlier remark. I could be mistaken but just saying that I believe that is what they were aiming at. Hope you do well with your surgery and hope that with a little luck you can get out and enjoy life once you heal up…I know with just a little over a $1000 a month you wont be able to afford a great deal but it doesnt take a lot of money to have a good time. Have a nice evening.

  4. OK maybe my head does bobble a little. :)

After some searching on the Web apparently SS and Disability is drawn from one fund. Amazing. Now I am positive that I will not have SS waiting on me when I retire. I am honestly upset at this. I thought Disability came out of our taxes. Who the hells idea was this? I hope most of them did pay in for awhile like bbboomer did.

    • Okay R.I.F I guess I understand your frustration with the way social security has been misused by some people. My question is how do they do it, and why do they do it. From my experience it is Very hard to get. First you must apply on your own and be turned down. Then you can hire an attorney, and you must have medical records substantiating your claim, which takes money that you are no longer making. If an attorney thinks they can win your case based on your medical records they will fight for you and they take a portion of your back-pay. The whole process takes about two years, that is two years that you do not have medical insurance because you are’t working. That is the real kicker because you have to be seeing a doctor to have the records. When, if you are lucky enough to get it before two years, you still can’t get medicare until you have been disabled for two full years. So it is a lose/lose proposition even if you win because in winning it means that you have LOST the ability to fend for yourself. Its a very hollow victory to say the least. And I must say that I am sorry for calling you a bobblehead, as I have bobbled a time or two also.

      • I am not RIF but I want to tell you if a child has parents who are able to work and sustain some income can and have worked to get their kids or better yet foster kids on SSI and its somewhat easier in the sense they, unlike you or I have a way to pay for the doctors and gas to get there…once they got this then they go after personal benefits. I saw this very thing happen in my area and there wasn’t a thing I alone could do to change this. This is just one case as I am sure there are many more but for some who know how to work the system they make gettin SSI as easy as playin the lotto…only with better odds. Perhaps RIF has some other examples as I know they certainly exists!

  5. Well I would be willing to bet some didn’t pay in and I knew of a few cases where a parent tried to get their child on SSI so they could make easy money when NOTHING was wrong with the kid but some quack doctor signed off on it! Happens everyday and we wonder why this country is over its eyeballs in debt and havin a recession

  6. I can’t really believe someone is offended at a term called bobblehead. If the name had been a vulgar one I could understand but come on. Does someone need a tissue?

What gets me is I am an american, I didnt get to got to school for free or on someone else’s money, so therefore I am covered up past my eyeballs in STUDENT LOANS! (and still can’t find a decent job!) so why should they get to to for FREE!! :o:

    • BINGO! Thats another very valid point it really sucks being a legal citizen because all the money goes to the outlaws…either the politicians or the illegal immigrants. I am trying to say it will end this country as we have known and loved it for so many years now. This country should do things for its own people before meddling in every other damn countries business. It is a shame it has got this far but the dummies in Washington DC and all the State Capitals cant seem to figure this out and stop a crisis on our own economy. Perhaps we should all be outlaws then maybe we could get a government grant too…. I bet you will use the schooling to further a career at some point tho and at least you can say you did it and not a welfare program. Good Luck to you on finding employement soon. Wonder if there is any good jobs in Mexico and if their government operates like ours in the sense they give things to outsiders? Maybe we should look into it! :)

  8. To clarify, this program is to be privately funded. There is no use of taxes or public funds. I am against giving tax monies to illegals, but this program does not do that.

  9. Those private donations are tax exempt, so we are helping fund it in a way. One simple way to tell if a law is bad… If Big Dick Durbin is involved, it’s dirty.

  10. Sorry for getting in here so late but I was in Texas helping a buddy out and didn’t have much access to a computer.
The number of those with a (D) behind their names were simply voting for this to show the illegal aliens that they need to vote for those with a (D) behind their name. The few with (R) behind their names are what is known as a RINO (Republican In Name Only). Please don’t claim that illegal aliens are not allowed to vote, they sure as Hell do get to.
The Democrats are taking care of their base of voters which consist of those who live off of government handouts. Remember the old saying “While robbing Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Paul’s support”.
If illegal aliens were potential Republican voters, the Democrats would want them machine-gunned at the border. Why else have the democrats done everything they can to allow the illegals to flood into this country? Look at what Obama and the Liberals have done to Arizona who was simply trying to protect it’s own citizens from bands of illegals who murder Arizona citizens while invading this country?
This is sort of off the topic a bit but Democrats have kept Blacks on the Welfare Plantation for the last 45 years and have convinced them that the Democrats are the only ones who “feel their pain”. The Black family is much worse off now in many aspects than they were in the 1950s. While everyone agrees that segregation was bad and needed to be corrected, the Black family had a much lower illegitimancy rate and a much higher percentage of Black-owned businesses per capita. Welfare ruined that.

  11. @PICK, Where is your basis for saying the donations would be tax deductible?
