Naahh, we don’t have a problem with ‘migrant workers’ here!

WAYNE CO.—Five years ago, we began chronicling problems with illegals, as well as ‘documented migrant workers,’ in southeastern Illinois.

Our initial coverage of it stemmed from the obscene marches conducted by openly (loud & proud) illegal immigrants who were taking to the streets of ‘sanctuary cities’ across the country demanding amnesty or, in lieu of that, more ‘rights’ for them and their lot.

Never mind the federal laws that prohibit the presence of undocumented or improperly documented immigrants from ANY country, not just those south of the border; these fools were making their demands and doing unacceptable things like flying the Mexican flag above the American flag, or removing the American flag altogether from flagpoles at California schools.

When these marches got a little close to home, we began researching and learned that former governor Hot Rod Blagojevich had instituted “Mi Casa” loans whereby people who weren’t properly documents, but had a pay stub nevertheless, could get a home loan. This was going on primarily up north, where illegals were getting NINJA loans (no income/no job/assets) for homes worth upwards of $150,000, designed for a family of four or five….but into which the illegals were moving upwards of 30 friends and family, subsequently trashing the house, not paying their mortgage, then, when the banks foreclosed on them, stripped the place of anything removable (plumbing, wiring, cabinets, fixtures, carpets, wood flooring) and left in the dead of night.

Of course, the locals here in southern Illinois were screeching “that’s UP NORTH! We don’t have problems like that down here!!” So we went to work to see where the ‘migrant workers’ were spotted and subsequently who was employing them.

Naturally, we learned that all the Scateses were employing them in Shawneetown, but we also found them in Clay County working the hog farms, in White County working the tobacco patches and in Wayne County working the pumpkin fields.

Last night (07.15.11), our correspondent in Wayne, Old Fart, happened to be in Wal-Mart late at night and spotted the usual thing: a passel of ‘migrant workers’ doing their weekly shopping after getting paid.

As much trouble as ‘migrant workers’ (and potential illegals) have caused in Wayne, you’d think their handlers (employers) would tell them to keep their late-night traveling to a minimum….but hey, gotta have those beans and burritos, you know.

Here’s what Old Fart shot, along with some of his commentary:

“This is the scene at the Fairfield Wal Mart at approximately 11pm Friday night July 15, 2011,” O.F. wrote to us. “These Mexicans are believed to be of the illegal status as they were either just plain rude or they were unknown to words like ‘Hi how are you doing this evening!’ Even a simple waving of the hand which I thought was a universal language was unknown to these fellars.”

Old Fart said he just can’t stand it when someone comes to town and is unable or unwilling to speak the most basic words of the English language.

“I can safely assume one of these guys is named Chavo; heck maybe more than on of them is named Chavo for all I know as it seems to be a popular name among the Mexicans around this area,” O.F. told us via email. “I would say that Mexican mommas were having as big a shortage on names as they did public housing and money down in Mexico.

“My only gripe about them being here, well actually I have two, first one is if you’re gonna come here, just do it legally. Second if you’re gonna come here learn some damn English. These guys already work so I cant say nothin about the job part but I do believe the other two of my gripes are easily fulfilled since it would be an accomplishment just to get to the country much less just fill out a stack of papers and do it legally.”

“I really don’t know much about becoming a citizen of this country but I do know that if this country is so much better than Mexico that they should be willing to make an effort to do so,” O.F. said. “It seems these guys are just here to make and send money back to Mexico and disgrace this country the whole time they are here.

“Before I pulled out the camera and started taking pictures these guys seemed to be rude and obnoxious in the sense that anytime someone spoke to them in English they gave you the go to hell look.”

“I figure if someone is friendly to you then shouldn’t you at least try to be friendly back…isn’t that hard to smile, ya know! Anyhow here is Chavo and all his Mexican buddies havin a fiesta at the Fairfield Wal Mart,” O.F. concluded, promising more of the “big yellar bus” in the next email.

We have yet to locate which area farmer is employing ‘migrant workers’ this year, although a good guess is Frey Produce in western Wayne County, where they reportedly get government grants in order to ensure 70 percent of their workforce is of a migrant status. While they do make efforts to hire ‘documented’ workers, occasionally, an UNdocumented one slides in there, and since they ‘pay minimum wage,’ the local meth heads and other welfare bums won’t get out there and work in the hot fields to make a living, so that task falls to anyone who’ll take it….including these smelly, rude, 30-to-a-3-bedroom-house critters who probably AREN’T ‘documented’ at all….but it’s no PeeCee to say that, so we’re just left with chronicling it, and letting you, the readers, know about it, so you’ll know what places to avoid and when.

From what I have learned this is a load from Frey Produce and hey why not hire these smelly critters then sit back come harvest time and wonder why everything from celery to pumpkiins to zucchini has ecoli and other forms of bacteria growing on it. These guys don’t wash their hands after pickin their noses much less after the bathroom…but who says you have to be smart or clean to pick fruit and veggies…just gotta be able and willing, even if your not just pickin the product!

We have some friends up around the Fairfield area who are pretty big(actually huge) farmers. A couple different ones. One couple farms corn, soybeans, etc. and the other couple have hog farms. We have met some of their hired help and the ones we have met are all American. Not sayin the ones we haven’t met may not be, but the ones we have met have said they could never ask for better employers. The wives not only work outside of their farms with other jobs, but fix breakfast, lunch and supper for many of them that work right there near their homestead. They get payed very well and have been with them for at least 15 years that I know of. Can’t say the same for the Scates’s in Gallatin Co.

…apparently in Dallas Tx. they have instituted a process whereby at any traffic stop, unless the driver can produce a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, the car is towed… in order to reclaim the car, valid registration and proof of insurance must be shown,  and a $300 fee/fine paid at time of pickup….surprise surprise it only took two weeks to fill up the county lots with automobiles driven primarily by illegals….go figure…

    • Old Fart

Ya as if we didn’t kno it was happening. Hope after 30 days they lose the car and the county can sell it and make some money for their trubles

Great pics and commentary O.F.  I agree they should HAVE to be here legally and be REQUIRED to be able to not only speak English, but read and write it too before becoming a legal documented immigrant. Have a basic English class or course with a test following and a passing grade of a C, at the very least. I know around my area, the schools have required our children to take Spanish as a second language in high school. All because there are so many Mexicans in the U.S. now. It’s as if we are having to accommodate them! Something that also urks me is anytime we have to call utility companies or ordering something over the phone, by the time we get through all the recordings, pushing this button and that one, the person on the other end is foreign and we can’t usually understand them. They’re not always Mexican, but at least 90% of the ones we get ahold of are.

Ya I love the message: to continue in English press one, otherwise press 2.  WTF?  If you are an illegal immigrant and no not a lick of english first of all you wouldnt know what press 2 means.  Secondly if this is The United States of America, isnt our nation pretty much originally all english speaking up until the past 15 years or so?  If its english then why not make the mexicans and other foreigners speak it instead of learning to be like them?  Im with ya Sweet on the fact of not being able to understand the operators on the other end.  Hughes Net “a leading satellite internet provider”  is terribly bad about this.  After 5 hours one day and 6 hours another day I still had no answers to questions I had about a bill and my services.  For this very reason I cancelled them!  Im not racist at all but by Golly if your gonna speak to me in my home country you will do so in English or I wont be talkin to ya!  Just burns my gizzards to think they are makin my kids learn that spanish crap when they live in the United States.   Canada knows english so why cant Mexico learn it?  Russia knows english so why not Mexico?  If you go to Japan is there a large number of those citizens who learn english so you can talk to them? I highly doubt it!  Wake Up America!

I remember your experience with Hughes Net! They had quoted one price to you, but when you got your bill, it was almost twice the amount..right? You kept trying to call to figure out what was going on and would be put on hold forever. Then, when you would actually get to talk to someone, it was a foreigner you couldn’t understand and they couldn’t answer your direct questions with a direct answer. After a few comments or so from you about it, you said you decided to just drop them…lol…I would have too, I can guarantee!! That was back in the cooler months this year, wasn’t it? It was not too long after my knee surgery as I recall. Somewhere thereabout anyway.

          • Old Fart

You got it. They were dropped because they first lost my payment for two months of service then they jacked the prices up to nearly double what it was supposed to be…I couldn’t handle that kinda bill nor the crappy service nor the foriegn voice that couldn’t understand english not just one voice either it was close to ten of them foreeners that couldn’t talk my language. Dammit if your gonna be a phone operator in the USA learn some damn english! That’s all I can really say about that.

Awwww, Yes! My memory hasn’t failed me yet………..well, too much. LOL.. “Hi. My name is Forest, Forest Gump. That’s all I have to say ’bout that”. haha

          • Old Fart

Ya I loved that movie.  I especially liked the line where Jenny shows Forrest her most prized possessions and he says, Jenny I think you need a new pillow.  He says it in such a way its just hilarious!

          • Anonymous

Haha..Yeah! It was Jenny’s room mates and when she heard it, her eyes got really big…I LOVE that movie too.

Mu y bien Old Fart Mucho Gracious….. that’s about all the Cheech and Chong I can remember.  I am sick of hearing how large corporations and the wealthy are screwing America, it is the Politicians that are driving the bus to the site of the nations crash.  These are ILEGAL immigrants and it is the Government’s job to remove them and they do not do anything but are trying to figure out if there are enough liberals voting or if enough Americans are asleep to transition them from undocumented Democrats to registered Democrats….. oh by the way those converted and in their 60’s we have a social security check waiting on you courtesy of the many hardworking folks that paid in for decades,  Unfortunately it was not the wealthy corporations that have made them feel welcome it is the elected officials …. Jack and Old Fart how about this for a bumper sticker

“I am so old, I remember when illegal meant against the law”

    • Old Fart

I am thinking I would post one on my bumper!  I would want a mexican flag in the background to make sure people knew what I was referring to!  BTW  Old Fart approves of your message:)

  5. More of these illegals in town tonite…but wait it gets good. Now they are drinkin in the van that they rode in. Yes sittin at the Fairfield Wal Mart they had a case of Bud Light and a square bottle, not sure if it was whiskey or tequila but I can assure you it wasnt mt dew or coca cola. These descendants were suffocating every aisle of wal mart and the service desk and the checkouts. While hundreds of legal english speaking Americans were standing in lines “long enough we needed binoculars to see the cashier” these fellars were up there confusing the heck out of the non spanish speaking cashiers. :p

    • I will be posting some pics of this venture….in the morning. Also one on Raymondo. We’re both beat to death after an 18-hour workday (Monday) and 20-hour day yesterday; today was only 8 but bad enough.

  6. I bet they were tough days I have one tomorrow and its gonna be so freakin hot. I have been quite a busy mammal myself these past few weeks. I hope to be caught up by the middle of next week but who knows! The heats a killin me LOL! Has Ang got her phone “and lifeline” fixed?
