Which probably means that Ms. C might be glancing around ol BryBry when they’re out, looking out for chicks who look like her, because other than the large teeth, she resembles the current MISSUS BryBry.

FRENCH LICK, Ind.—Supposedly a “romantic getaway” place, appropriately-named French Lick, Indiana, was reportedly the location of a weekend tryst for Todd Fort’s attorney Bryan Drew.

However, Drew wasn’t present with his recent paramour du jour, TV 3′s Christen Craig.
Instead, reliable reports have indicated that Drew was with “his babymomma,” none other than Second Circuit Judge Melissa Drew. AND their two young children.
The Drews have been split for well over a year now, and divorce proceedings began in February 2010.
Last summer, Drew made a public spectacle of himself having TV ‘reporter’ Christen Craig hanging all over him in bars, at the studio, and on her Facebook. Reports poured in to Disclosure about how unfaithful Drew really is, and that the week before his wedding to Melissa Morgan, he was busying himself with other females, as he was about to be out of circulation….for awhile, anyway.
Naturally that didn’t last long and he was BACK in circulation, to now-judge Drew’s dismay and the two entered into a divorce, which, after we noted here on the site that we’d like to see the file, it was promptly closed and swept away to the 22nd circuit, where it’s languishing.
Now it appears the two may be patching things up….or at least having a last fling for old time’s sake.
We’ll see. Maybe Drew’s trying to get his crap together before the Fort trial June 13…& the missus is just helping out.

Drew may or may not be a scumbag, Farty (I dunno, really), but everybody–guilty or not–deserves to have somebody looking out for their rights. Most people charged with crimes are in fact guilty, but what about the few who aren’t? Isn’t the fact that even the guilty get a fair day in court one of the things that makes this country great?
The problem with Drew, however, is that it’s wholly questionable as to whether or not he’s looking out for his clients’ “rights.” From every court appearance we’ve sat through, it appears he’s making it up as he’s going along, and doesn’t have the slightest clue about what the law REALLY says. The only thing that would help us appreciate his take on how to approach criminal defense would be if at the end of Fort’s case, in closing statements, he brings up jury nullification and advises the jury that they can find the “age of consent is 17 unless the teen is in subjection to the perp” a “bad law” and nullify the charges as brought against Fort.
Of course, that won’t address the charges regarding acts committed when the victim was 16. But hey, maybe it’ll reduce Fort’s sentence.
I really don’t know anything about Drew’s legal abilities, and for all I know you’re right. I just find it kind of short-sighted when people attack criminal defense attorneys for–gasp–representing people charged with crimes.
The jury nullification angle would be a ballsy move, btw, but most judges won’t let it in.
Would the judge call him on it, though, if he utilized it in his closing?
Not sua sponte, but if the state objected it’d probably be sustained. You’re supposed to be confined to the evidence as presented and the law as explained in the jury instructions, even in summations.
I am in such opposition to this I can’t even stand it. Jury nullification isn’t illegal. At what point would it be brought up and allowed to be explained (barring the objection from the state, of course) if in fact a defense attorney wanted to bring it up?

We do posts on it as often as we can, and last year we had a whole column devoted to it (Brian Lewis of Louisville….he was our hero of the summer for bringing it to the attention of the Concealed Carry activists in Fairfield in June). It just makes me crazy that more people don’t know about it, and that attorneys are so restrained about it. In Illinois, it should be used in SEVERAL “gun crime” cases…..because if the Second Amendment were observed properly in this state, there’d be a lot less people in federal and state prisons.
I’d like to see it used in lots of “victimless crimes.” For what crimes it would be used necessarily depends on where it is used, which gives the mores of the local community more significance. Here, it’d probably be more likely to be employed in gun crimes, while in San Francisco it’d be used more for drug possession and prostitution. In Utah? Polygamy. ;)

I think Fort is a pIece of shit (and probably guilty) but that’s all the more reason to let him put on his strongest defense possible. I doubt you would wanna be charged with blasphemy in Hardin County and not given an opportunity to defend yourself as well as possible.

More times than not the court system is a high stakes poker match at the tax payers expense with a judge and states atty just puttin on a show to make it look like they are doin a good job. perhaps in this case the SA and Judge are doin there job correctly but Im sayin what they do around here. Its fair to say i have a low tolerance for the scandals that plague our police departments around here and unfortunately it bleeds into the courts but this case is as solid as i have seen in a long time as far as the states case against fort. It is extremely difficult to file sexual charges in this state and in order to do so you must show rock hard evidence and in this case its there and shown question is does the defendant really want to play this game as he already turned down a reduced sentence offer? I mean come on hes gonna be locked up for a long time once this goes down so why not take an offer that reduces his time …seems only reasonable for him to take it at this point but i guess time will tell. as for Bryan I see a guy who cheats on his good looking wife and takes on an extra marital affair then to top it off he represents a child molestor…again i have been around those kinda fellars before and quite frankly its all i can do to keep from wringin their necks but to each their own. I personally wouldnt take on a case of a child molestor unless i trully thot he was innocient or if i could somehow prove the child was a compulsive liar. I did THINK about buying one a couple of years ago from Wally World, but changed my mind. I worked at one years ago and have NOTHING good to say about my experience, except for my customers. I have business management skills and they promised me that I could work my way into management. Now, this is how they do their employees to keep benefits away from them such as health insurance plans, etc. They will work your hind end off for 3 weeks at full time hours, then on the 4th week, they cut your hours to about 10-12 that week. You see, if you worked 4 straight weeks at full time hours, you were automatically considered a full time employee, so they always cut everyone’s hours on their 4th week! My schedule was crazy & I worked it because of their “promise” to me. I would work a 2pm to 11pm or a 3pm to 12 midnight and have to be back at 7am the morning. Took it as long as I could with broken promises, gave my 2 weeks and quit. They tried to call me back and I told em only if I could keep the things I had already acquired with em & get it in writing that they would indeed, put me into management within a few months since I had very good references from prior employment. They couldn’t do it, so…neither did I! I went into a much more rewarding job of working with the elderly and could not have made a better choice, I promise!
That is a rewarding career I love the self employment field myself unless the temps are extreme I can kinda go my own pace I do just a little bit of everything but the wal mart crowd is useless meanin the franchise not the workers…sam walton would flip in his grave if he knew what was happening to his dream and vision
YES, he would! His vision and dreams were to make it ALL about family. He thought of his employees as family and their family as his own and wanted to make sure everyone was treated that way. After he died and this is the truth, I swear…any time things would start getting stressful at the “LOCO” Wally world I worked at, there would be a couple of loaves of bread just drop off the shelf. People would say to me, ” Sam, isn’t happy with the way things are going with his stores”. He was, without a doubt, a great guy!
Sam was a great man no doubt but the store isnt what it was when he was there and he wanted to help people and communities across the country and even the world now all wal mart executives want is to make another dollar and there is more to a business than makin a fast buck its about makin sure your customers are as happy as possible with their purchase..thats something Sam made sure of and something the current execs dont give two shits about. Hughes Net and Intex take notice…your businesses will crumble if you dont change your ways of conducting these simple procedures which quite simply includes a little P.R. Also Hughes Net you know the Satelite internet people…They have their head up their asses today as well…I spoke with 10 people over 3 hours of talk time and to no avail…Why did I call in the first place? They assured me my cost would be $45.99 per month for 24 months now they send a bill less than two weeks after installation sayin my monthly charge will be $59.99 per month…I told em to fix it or cancel it either way is fine by me but I wouldnt be payin $15 bucks more a month than originally agreed to and so far no one has answered me back so im gonna say I doubt I will be with Hughes Net much Longer…Not to many of their representatives speak clear fluent english either which contributes to even more problems and to top it off they took exactly $155.60 out of my acct and now they claim I still owe $155.60 on my bill because the payment is still not posted to the Hughes Net Account from my credit card acct…They all were wondering why I was such an asshole on the phone but good grief how in the world would anyone be happy about them misplacing my money then acting like I dont pay my bills. Jack, hopped back on for a minute trying to keep up with the weather and things on here. I was watching the southwest area and where the funnel cloud was reported in Murphysboro. It is real still right now at the house. Of course, you guys know the county I live in and my surrounding counties. I used to LOVE thunderstorms and I still do as long as there are no funnel clouds or tornadic activity involved.
I have an honest question and mean no disrespect. Why is this newsworthy? I think sex outside of marriage is wrong. I believe adultery is wrong. I believe it is wrong to scandalize children. There’s nothing new under the sun in this story. Even if all the allegations are true, what good is coming from the constant articles you write about these individuals? Why them and not others?

Thanks for your response, though it doesn’t answer initial question. I do agree with the creators of this website on many issues. I don’t believe in civil unions and do believe that Mr. Drew’s actions, if true, are scandalous (See Mark 10:14-15). Here, however, while issue of civil unions in the state of Illinois clearly belong in the news, I honestly do not understand why this issue is newsworthy. I am simply looking for clarification.
Of course, you are correct that I disagree with the creators of this website on some issues (it seems unlikely that you will find many people who agree on every issue). I strongly believe, however, that there are people much smarter than I am who disagree with me and from whom I can learn. That’s why I’m here. I want to hear opinions that differ from mine and ask the individuals who hold those opinions questions. I may disagree with them, but that doesn’t mean, in a respectful environment, I can’t learn something new and sharpen my understanding of an issue. Anyone with a “back bone [sic],” by which it seems you mean strong convictions shouldn’t feel threatened by differing opinions of others.

@mcsullivan: Apparently you haven’t been following this subject since it began last year. It’s news because Bryan Drew is in a contentious battle with public officials by representing people who have been accused of some of the most atrocious crimes in southern Illinois; Melissa Drew is a judge—one of the most unqualified we have—and their divorce is not only not final, but has been moved out of the circuit AFTER it was sealed; and Christen Craig makes a living on the basis of face recognition, just like any celebrity….ALL points which make it SUPER newsworthy. It’d be newsworthy if they were just rummy public aid-recipient citizens simply because of the salaciousness of the situation and the fact that adults should know better than to be so openly obnoxious about their adultery. But it’s newsworthy because Bryan Drew dragging out these cases is costing the taxpayer dearly; Melissa Drew raking in $140,000-plus from the taxpayer for her do-nothing style of judging is costing the taxpayer…well… ONE-HUNDRED FORTY-THOUSAND-PLUS ANNUALLY, and Christen Craig wants to be famous. We’ve made her famous. Google her name and see how many links to our site come up. You’re welcome Christen, btw…perhaps you should have chosen your next bed-buddy a lil more carefully.
