New mayors in the area! Mt. Carmel

Pleasantly enough, Tom Meeks is no longer mayor of Mt. Carmel.

That honor, from what we’re hearing, goes to Bill Hudson (the elder). Now, the police department won’t be abused, the budget won’t be trampled, frivolous things won’t happen like letting Project Success run businesses out of town, and city hall employees won’t be allowed to use city credit cards with impunity then resign with no charges. Yes, all those things occurred under the Meeks administration, which has dragged on for far too long (since 2003).

Hudson, who has been a music instructor in the area for decades, was favored to win from the field of six contestants, including Meeks. It was sheer hubris that the mayor tried to run again, as he’s made many enemies these past four years with his BS about how he’s a good non-drinking Christian who goes to church regularly, when in reality he spends church time out on the golf course with a cooler full of cold ones, or when he’s not doing that, he’s out hellraising on his Harley and visiting bars in nearby places such as Lawrenceville or Fort Branch.

Unfortunately, where the city won with the loss of Meeks, it lost with the win of city councilman Rod Rodriguez, who used pimppreacher.com to base his decision on “what to do” about Curtis Harms’ place, which Project Success got shut down. Rod Rod has had political aspirations for a number of years and has been going about it all wrong up to this point; what he did right this time exactly remains a mystery. Maybe Project Success got out the vote for him.

Mt. Carmel bested Harrisburg for council people running (Mt. Carmel had a whopping 15; tha burg, 13); following Rod Rod were Dick Shoaff, incumbent Norm Brunson (we like Norm) and Joe Judge, so the fact of the council in Mt. Carmel has changed dramatically.

Congrats to all!
