Just LET those idiot Indiana Dem legislators slide over here…
INDIANA—What happens when you have a representative Republic whose representatives flee their responsibilities?
You have a bunch of wimp-ass Indiana Democrats who are traipsing across state lines to Kentucky and Illinois so there’s no quorum in their state houses. And that’s just wrong.
Republican-led states have been trying to wrangle with their budgets by fighting spending-crazy ‘progressive’ leaders who, it appears, are trying to get their constituents hooked on whatever ‘entitlement’ programs they can make available…whether it’s public aid or public service unions.
So when legislators with sense are trying to do the right thing and draw back spending where it can be done (asking those employed by the state to stop their ongoing [unearned] raises and to do more personal contributions toward their retirement instead of expecting the state to make the contributions), the non-sensible legislators whine, stomp, pitch a fit and ultimately walk out, ignoring their responsibilities to the majority in favor of the slim minority.
Here’s an excerpt of what’s going on, from Channel 6, Indianapolis with link http://www.theindychannel.com/politics/26952040/detail.html :
Gov. Mitch Daniels said Tuesday he will not send the state police to retrieve Indiana House Democrats who may have fled the state in protest of a so-called right-to-work bill and other GOP-backed bills in the Legislature.
Sources gave conflicting information about the whereabouts of Indiana Democrats, who didn’t show up to begin the day in the House on Tuesday morning, effectively stopping business in that legislative chamber.
Reports are that the yellow-bellied losers are slinking across state lines to Illinois and Kentucky, where a Dem governor won’t order them to be arrested by state police and hauled back to their home states.
Personally, we think that would be a hoot to get to watch happen; we’d be right there with video rolling.
So if we get the opportunity, if public sentiment changes and for some odd reason Quinn would opt to force these dumbasses to get out of our state, go back to their home state and tend to business, we’ll just see what kind of footage we can obtain.
In the meantime, ponder this: If Republican leaders had walked out of state houses in order to show ‘favor’ to their ‘programs,’ how would they be treated? Do you believe there would be quite the disparate reaction?
Why is it good when one side does it, and anathema if the other side does?
We heard today a perfect perspective on all this mess: Public service unions are the only unions that FIGHT AGAINST We the People. They go into contract negotiations to the detriment of the taxpayers, because they are effectively strong-arming the taxpayers to GIVE THEM MORE MORE MORE. While they are doing less less less: teachers, cops, prison guards, etc. Unions for public servants are deplorable. Part of the job of ‘public service’ is the drawback that every couple of years, the employment rolls are going to overturn. This is good. It keeps people from being entrenched. That goes for the good employees as well as the bad….but it keeps the bad from proliferating, and we have entirely too many bad public employees who are unfireable and thus a drain on us all.
The time has come to reign in the egregious spending. All of us who work in the private sector have had to pull in and tighten up. We who own businesses aren’t getting raises; we’re getting taxed. Public sector employees are no better than anyone else. Payroll is a state’s most controllable expense. So it’s time to control it.

Unions at one time needed however those times have passed. I work in the private sector and don’t have a tax payer retirement account. For those that have made the choice to be “public servants” how does that make it my responsibility to support them for the rest of their lives? They always claim to care about children or about the public but when push comes to shove it’s all about the money and stealing from the taxpayer. I don’t make 100K a year and I pay for my own retirement why can’t they? After all they made the choice to be public servants because they care so much right? (or is it maybe there is only one “choice” they support-but that’s another subject)
While I agree that they should stay and deal with their problems, I do not believe any state’s governor has the ability to arrest these “legislators” and return them to the other state as they have not broken any laws, so I don’t think there are warrants to be sworn out for their return.
Malfeasance of office (abandonment, willful, depends on which state), Class 4 felony.
Good Luck trying to get that done.
These people are busy trying to see who can be the biggest hayseed hero. Don’t put it past someone to attempt it….just for the notoriety of it.
I wonder if the governors of these states where the “rats” have run off can temporarily appoint someone to fill the seats of these “rats” since their districts are not being represented. They can choose, come back and do your job, or I’ll appoint someone who will!!
@John….yeah, I forgot about that codicil. Proxy vote. We do still have a representative republic. Sad that so many of our representatives don’t understand that.
Barack lectured American taxpayers several months back that “everyone needed to have some skin in the game” in order to solve the nation’s financial woes.
Apparently he never meant to include the public and private unions?
Jack, I really do not want to get started on the by “Proxy” vote. When Bush was elected in, I told my husband to take our $’s out of the Dow & Nas because it was gonna plummet! AND…it did BIG TIME!! But when you let another “entity” take care of your say so, then that’s when you get Phucked! I have been telling him that it is getting close to a new election of the President and he needs to keep a close eye on our investments, but he just lets our investor take care of it. It would probably make people sick to know how much we lost when Bush first won a cpl of terms ago before 9/11. After 9/11, we lost over 1/2 of what we had in the Dow & Nas…actually it was closer to 2/3′s! I know this is off the subject but when I seen “Proxy”, it made me think of that. I don’t like the GD word but GD, what the hell was he thinking, I keep asking myself? I had taken business classes and knew when to hold em & fold em? Lost a freaking 1/4 of a million buckaroos because of listening to the investor!!! Sorry, bout the rant here, but GEEZ! He has never been union! Just worked his A$$ off since he was 19 yrs old. Once again, I’m sorry for the rant!!! :o:
P.S., I have also worked my A$$ off since I was 15…just couldn’t invest until I became of age to do so.
Arrogence…you need to do some reasearch. I DO NOT make more money that private sector people as a public servant. I had my pay frozen so I am bringing home less money this year than last. I thought I enjoyed your paper until this was posted. How dare you!!! This poor public worker is just that…but I do help people turn their lives around. What exactly is it that you do? Sit on your hill and count your money?? I am only one person but I am done with this paper. I will keep my hard earned money thank you very much.
We in the private sector are tired of paying for:
A) Welfare slugs who won’t get off their asses and do a decent days’ work
and
B) public servants whose lives we continue to fund after their retirement.
You public sector employees, go cannibalize your own paychecks and redistribute them to each other. We’re already racked with trying to support the dregs of society to be burdened by whether or not your paychecks are “frozen.” What’s going to happen to you when OUR paychecks are “frozen”? You know how MY paycheck gets “frozen”? Your skank ass doesn’t buy any more of my papers.
So if you want your annual undeserved raise, you’d better not only get off your ass and buy my paper, but you’d better encourage all your public sector buddies, your family, their families, EVERYBODY, to buy my papers, because I’M the one who’s paying your GODDAMNED PAYCHECK. You fkn FOOL.
I’m totally a democrat, and I am for the IDEA of welfare. I know it gets abused and I know there are problems with it… but I still like to know that if I suddenly become unemployable I won’t starve to death in the streets…
Having said that, I would like to say how very embarassed I am about this whole thing. I haven’t had a raise in like 2 years, but if I protested and ran away to another state so that I wasn’t doing my job, what would happen?? They would fire my ass in a heartbeat and I would be lining up for that welfare check when I couldn’t find another job.
Jack, sounds like you’re in the same frame of mind that I am on this. Someone told me the other day they got an extension on their unemployment, which yeah, they payed into it, but I haven’t known this person to hold a job but for maybe 2-3 months at a time. Then gets over $200.00 in food stamps. So does his girlfriend that lives with him and they have no kids or disabilities to prevent them from working and they’re young, well able bodied to work, just to damn lazy!
GRRRR! Now I’m cuddling with the ghost Hannah! Guess since you said you were out of here for the day, he’s gonna pick on me. Well, I might as well just get comfy & wait for him to turn me loose..
Okay, Kewl! YAAAHH! The ghost let me loose.
I read on another website that a teacher in Wisconsin who makes $80,000 yearly was upset she would lose her job to a younger teacher. She said that her community businesses will suffer without her economy input (groceries, etc.) Yeah, right! I live in IL, am retired & a lot of the teachers hightail it to their summer homes at the lake or take extended vacations for their three month hiatus. I also know some of these teachers should have retired a long time ago, but it’s about the money, not the kids.
In Japan, teachers are highly respected and highly paid. They have a proverb that reads, “better than a thousand days of study is one day with a great teacher”. They are leaps and bounds ahead of us in every subject and spend less than any other developed democracy (3.3% of GDP vs. 5% in U.S.) The key is respect. It must be earned but it also must be given to those who do their job well.
Does this mean that our Congressmen and Senators will be taking a pay cut, giving up their pensions and benefits for the good of the state and our country, as well? Or will we just expect that of our firefighters, teachers, and other average citizens?
They SHOULD. They should be the FIRST ones to suffer cuts.
