Croc found in Embarrass River!
Courtesy our fine reader syzygy, we received a report of this croc found in our readership area, on the Embarrass River, which runs through our circulation counties of Crawford and Lawrence, and ends at the Wabash across the river from Knox County.
Syzygy says there are some news articles about it, but we didn’t find them, so we thought we might produce our own.
It IS the Embarrass, after all....

I just almost didn’t see it..lol. Now had it been back a little in the weeds, it may have blended in well enough to be camo’d by the weeds & bank. It is the color of the mud line there, you know? That is just too funny!!!
He really did have me going, but mainly because I’m a big fan of the alligatoridae family (comes from living down South….which I’m obsessing about today, gazing out the big window at all this frigging snow…)
I HATE SNOW.
Just thought I’d say that.
I have seen some pretty big ones in Lake Lottacaca on the West side of Sumner behind the Caseys store there.
I love the Southern States, all of them! When we went to Florida last year to the Mayo clinic, we stopped at this little spec on the map place to get out & stretch, let the dog potty and get something to drink. It was in Georgia, and it was surrounded by a big ditch & swampland. We asked the lady where we could let our dog potty, she pointed in the direction of which side was best. She said not to take him to the other side, which actually had more concreted area, because at that time of the year, the gators would run up before you even knew it and had just seen one in the parking lot the day before. Needless to say, since I wasn’t able to run, I stayed in the car when we went to the side she pointed to. We drove around the place a few times in hopes to see one but….no luck! :o:

Yes, they are!!! They try to bring humor in when our country is in such a devastating state of dismay. It has been for a long time & will continue to be for a long time to come. I appreciate everything they do here on the site. I can even take constructive criticism when anyone throws my way. I take it as “learning” experiences.
Jeez, has the cold weather frozen all the joke detectors up there? Perhaps I should have used one of the little faces after the statement.
@ambu_u_2, sorry bout that! It sometimes takes me a few to note “haha’s” or “sarcasm” in peoples comments. Wait til you read the print edition & page 4…you will be laughing your “butt” or “anus” off, right Angela? I still am…

@Dennis, are you talking about “crocs” or “shoes” when referring to seeing some big ones in Lake Lottacaca(that even makes me laugh, Lotta-caca) behind the Casey Store up there?
I am truly getting cabin fever, I think!

@Angela & Jack, Just wanted to let you know, this print edition is a VERY good & informational one! I’m almost done with it but of course, I will re-read it to comprehend all the info. I love reading between the lines here and everything new you bring to us. It’s very entertaining in the aspects of personalities who visit your site, your readers & commenters….just sayin…glad you only have the thumbs up or thumbs down rating & not the full-scale hand where we may have to read sign language.
I must agree, this latest issue is a great one!!!
Too funny. I needed a good laugh and it made me laugh out loud. Latest issue was very good. I was up til 2 reading it last night and had to get up at 630 for work. So worth the lack of sleep
@Swimberly: Thanks so much. We really busted butt on this one…to make up for all the bad information we’d been given for the last one. I expect that will be one of those things that will be a collector’s edition, the Disclosure issue with all they typos and mistakes (although I found four headline mistakes in this month’s, when I was doing this month’s print headlines….all of them on Jack’s stories, go figure….what would he do without me…)
Speaking of print edition, do the subscribers editions usually go out at the same time as the dealers, before or after?
Subs go out before anything. If we get them to the post office early enough, you get them the next day. Sometimes our print shop runs late, though, or there’s inclement weather; if the subs get to the PO after 3, you won’t get em for a few days.
As for whether they get to the vendors or not before the subs get out or on the day of, that all depends, too….on what route the junior team is taking, and what the weather’s like, print shop, etc. So it really varies. We strive to get subscribers out asap though, because you pay a little more for the privilege.
…so, is there any truth to the rumor that the “croc” has been affectionately dubbed “Dundee” by the locals?
Men cant spell so without us there would be a world where no one would know what the other was writing. LMAO. I will say one of the best you guys have done in awhile. Should be proud of that one
That was a CROC of s..t,I lost one like that size 13,If its it please return it…..LOL
