Something’s up with Raymond Martin in Benton…
This is all we can tell you right now (scroll way down, sorry…lots of Raymond Martin info):

Just did our day’s-end check of Raymondo’s situation…it appears a writ has been issued for him as of today, to be brought from Jackson County jail to the federal courthouse in Benton. It also appears that, if the “ad testificandum” is toward someone on the witness list, someone’s testimony is being compelled. As the government isn’t supposed to be able to compel the testimony of the accused, it’s apparently not Raymondo. However, because the documents 68, 69 and 70 aren’t clickable, we’re not going to know WHOSE testimony it is.
We don’t have any idea what this could pertain right now…witnesss lists haven’t been made available. We have been told by two officials, one involved in the case, one peripheral to it, that there is no hope for a plea now, and the one involved in the case even said “See ya Monday.” So the trial is going down, whether we get papers delivered in a timely manner or not.
We’ll keep you posted as to what we do learn…keep checking back and mark your RSS feeds for anything “Raymond Martin.”

harvy-I am assuming you are aiming your comment towards me not galco who are 2 separate posters. for the record I wasn’t the first one to try and “out” a poster that was done long before me. Also, I didn’t post the actual name. It was just an observation of mine. Also, I am close to NOONE connected with this trial. Do I know some of them…yes. Am I close to them…hardly. Furthermore, I NEVER VOTED FOR HIM. Also, not crying and whining there is enough of that going on and has been for years. I, for one am NOT a whiner. Look back, I am not the one who posted a name. Salinecounty has and new comer has…NOT ME! My head has always and will continue to be held high because I KNOW that I was in NO WAY affiliated with this stupid mess! However, it is pretty bad when you are 4 states away and someone asks you where you are from, you tell them and then they say oh that is where the sheriff was selling drugs and trying to get his family to knock people off. That is when it gets a tad bit embarassing. Shame on me for feeling that way I guess. Oh well, I like having a little dignity,humility and morals. Its all good. I am off to work now have a great day.

I love the state of Illinois but think to some stupid ass people mainly down state voters keep voting dumb freak n criminals like Raymond in to power . The southern vote is what got Rod reelected the last time . I swear you should have to take a I.Q test to be able to vote. I urge these people to use there brains when they note for now on . When voting don’t vote for a guy cause you think he will let you or your family out of trouble. That is for local elections like ( town – county boards , sheriff, states attorney and so on ). We need term limits on all positions that are elected. That would cut down on dirty officials. All elected officials should be subjected to random drug testing. That would get rid of a lot of the problems. Do to when judges,sheriffs and S.A don’t have to worry about there dealer telling on them they will not be temped to protect the scum. To the people of G.C look who pushed for Raymond year after year you know who they are and if they are pushing for a candidate maybe you should look twice at him or her. Example admin favorite big G.C farmer here are the I’ll give you a clue they own the old school in Shawnee town . Another 1 runs a funeral home with his father. You know who he is you keep voting him in to . I swear it seems some people never learn . That brings back the I.Q testing to vote.

i agree with you on some of this post well says.But often ,in the case of the Funernal Director the poeple down there don’t have a choice so you can’t blame them for that one.
You are right to check to see who is backing who and they may be cause for the votes to be changed when you think why they would be so interested in an election.

No 1 run against him much anymore. Several had in the past but him and Raymond are tight and no one could beat him or Raymond. Just like no one can beat Beth Wargel who was Raymond fling at one time. Raymond out her into her office. I can’t figure out why no one ran against Raymond sister Monia it would of been the right time to do it. Raymond also put her into office. Raymond had tight control on the court house he always had Beth, Monia , and always the states attorney no matter who it was.

Hey, I have my memories of old town too. Jeez, those were the good old days when a tavern was a real tavern, no one worried about drugs, and cops were even friendly and would offer a helping hand if needed. You don’t see that too much any more, do you?

I try my best not to hate anyone or to even get mad anymore,but for some reason I absolutely loathe most “Chicagonads” that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with and they are the only people I can just hear their accent and start getting pissed off nearly instantly…Prejudiced against them? Southern Illinois is mostly a bunch of democrats. Blagovich would have loss the last election if it was for the down state vote. I wanted a republican in office. We’re all over the place tomorrow…one of us will be in Benton…the other will be with the kids…one team will do North Counties deliveries, the other will do South Counties deliveries, then we’ll meet back up in Benton and cover the rest of the trial. The junior team will pick up any deliveries on Tuesday that couldn’t be made on Monday. Hopefully by Tuesday evening all papers will be delivered and we’ll be having pizza in Benton…Well, I will, because Ang can’t have pizza….and I can’t have pepperoni anymore *sniff*

been awhile since your last poli sci class there WELL? No, it was the historically crooked DEMOCRATIC machine in Cook Co that put Blago in office. Granted the democratic vote down here didn’t help matters, but the truth of the matter is, all the votes south of I80 have little effect compared to the votes in Cook Co alone. Throw in the collar counties, and our votes mean nothing. So if you want to blame a region for Blago, sorry, but that one is on you all. Now I am a republican. But I am also a Cook Co transplant. Moved down here as a kid. All of my extended family is still in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. So I think I have a pretty good view of both sides. And I can safely say, wild horses couldn’t drag me back to that shit hole you apparently still call home. By all means head north. Return to stay and you will be happy as well. And that will be one less northerner attitude and rudeness that us “hicks” won’t have to put up with. Or you shooting our cows, mules, and dogs thinking you just bagged a deer. Can’t you guys even look at a picture of one before you head down here?? Just wondering. I know y’all love to tell us that we couldn’t survive without the scraps you crooks send our way for our schools and infrastrucure. For anyone locally who wants to see Chicago transplants at the height of their stupidity,call me and I’ll take you out in my boat fishing and you can watch these dumb asses in full blown idiot mode…both on the water AND from their yards as they holler at guys fishing and tell them they are to close to “their” bank or dock…..I have actually seen two ass kickings over this type attitude so far this year (one at a boat ramp and the other IN the water) and it wasn’t the big bad “ChicaGONAD” that came out ahead either time.
Don’t screw with folks who skin/grow their own food,cut and split their own wood etc etc etc….guys like us hurt ourselves more in a weekend by accident than a northerner could hurt us in a year on purpose. :((

@shunned & muleskinner…I gotta tell you both, I thoroughly enjoyed those two posts. I’ve only been to Chicago a limited number of times and that was way too much for me. The first thing I noticed was the odor and it was rank. I called this to the attention of the person with me, who lived there at the time, and she said she was used to it. I would NEVER get used to it.
Guess I’m just a country girl at heart and that’s a good way to be as far as I’m concerned. I’ve noticed through the years that a lot of folks from southern Illinois have returned here to retire after living up north during their working years. Guess those folks wanted a breath of fresh air.

I’d travel over there to watch the jury selection if I thought I could get in and get a seat. I think this trial will be a good one to watch…if one could.
@Hannah: Yah…we got one of the last rooms at one of the closest motels there. We’re there for jury selection and will give a lunch break update (albeit a brief one), so keep watching!

I’ll get with our sources today and see what they think. We literally believe the jury is going to have it by this weekend, and may stay sequestered in order to deliver a verdict, according to what we’re reading in the file, but we’ve been BADLY wrong before on these federal cases.
