Juggalos creating problems in Hardin
HARDIN CO.—Looks like the Juggalos have started early.
Juggalettes. Ain't they neat? They luv weed. And looking stoopid.
We were in Elizabethtown yesterday so Ang could judge a pageant there (the annual Heritage Fest is going on) and we saw plenty of people, young and old, with Koolaid-colored hair, looking very much like Insane Clown Posse fans, aka Juggalos/Juggalettes.
What are these, you ask?
Well, just take a good look at the photo above here. We can’t really describe it because it defies description. Suffice it to say there just aren’t many words appropriate for such things as Insane Clown Posse fans that wouldn’t get us a TOS (Terms of Service warning) from our host, meaning we’ll really, REALLY be watching the comments that will no doubt follow this post, because, ICP fans, we’re not going to get flamed, I can guarantee you that. This isn’t your basic lukewarm mainstream media website that you get to crawl all over with your Androids and iPhones and fill up the comment boxes with vulgarity. You can, and will, be blocked here.

This band, ICP, has been around since the evolution (if you can call it that) of ‘hip-hop’ and what is today called ‘rap’ dating back to the mid-80s. They developed into the band they are now about 10 years later, and have sharpened their sound and image since. They ‘sing’ (rap) about graphic subjects that usually involve killing, cannibalism, necrophilia, rape, dope, booze, and every other kind of vice and disgusting subject, all on the theme that it’s healthily cathartic and helps people to ‘get right’ with their God before ‘the end.’ We suppose they believe they have a direct line to God and presume to know what He’s thinking and that their methods of getting people to ‘change their ways’ have been approved. Most people don’t fall for this, and find the group’s music, called ‘horrorcore’ (hardcore rap) repulsive…as well as the fans who enjoy it.
More Motifakes...they like to lambast Juggalos because they're so...well...lambastable.
And why not?! These fans call themselves Juggalos (and Juggalettes) based on the lyrics of one of ICP’s songs that refers to the ‘Juggla’ (a juggler, we presume, and not ‘jugular’ as in vein, but it’s kinda hard to be certain even looking at the lyrics). And it’s the lyrics, dear reader, that makes the band so repulsive, because, unlike other ‘rap’ artists that basically are parodies of themselves (Eminem comes to mind), ICP takes themselves seriously. Which is sad, because most music critics don’t, and they’ve never won much critical acclaim (not that that’s saying much in this pop-culture-driven world). But hey, don’t let our words convince you….we won’t to do what other websites who are writing about ICP do and presume you know how repulsive they are. Instead, we’re gonna SHOW you!

They’re ALL like that. Every song. It’s unbelievable. And they’ve sold lots of ‘units,’ but nobody’s opinion who’s worth a damn likes them. And that includes the law, with whom they’ve run afoul repeatedly, with multiple charges of assault and battery, sometimes on their fans.
They're all like this. All of them. Fingers and all.
And most of the time, their fans are just like them—wannabes. They wannabe gangstas, beatin they b!tches & hoes, huntin theyselfs sum redneck chickens so they’s can cut em up & pull out they guts & bring em home to they chirrens fo suppah. Yes, there are A FEW Juggalos/lettes who don’t have criminal records, but folks would be amazed at how many peoples’ files we come across at courthouses who, when we do a little research into their backgrounds, they identify themselves on their MySpaces or other social networking sites as Juggalos.
So far, there have been only a couple of incidents in Hardin County (where the Juggalos are supposedly gathering this weekend for an ICP concert at the Hog Rock campgrounds) that are probably attributed to Juggalos. We won’t impugn this, though, until we get confirmation from ISP, for which we’ve asked already regarding a presser we received this morning. Seems there was a rollover wreck with a car full of young people, ranging in ages from 16 to 22, all of them from Pennsylvania. We don’t know that they were Juggalos/lettes here for the concert…but it is kinda suspicious.
Are we intolerant of this crowd? Yes. Why? because Hardin County is in our judicial circuit, and what affects the circuit—having to pay for out-of-county jail stays of young ignorant people having substance abuse issues; having the court bound up with out-of-state people who will never be back in the area again after getting busted for possession, fighting, etc, creating uncollected fines and fees; sending our police and ambulances (all funded by taxpayers’ dollars) all up and down our highways (not just limited to Hardin; there was a wreck in White County last year when a stoned Juggalette ran off Highway 45 outside of Mill Shoals trying to get home from an ICP weekend)—affects us. Further, what you put into your head is how you ultimately view the world and behave. Why fill your head with violence, sadism and brutality? There’s enough of that going on without it being couched as “entertainment.”
And we in southern Illinois have enough problems without this additional riffraff. This isn’t a bunch of older people on motorcycles being loud and having wet t-shirt contests. This is a bunch of young, impressionable people who should have a little more parental oversight and not get involved in ‘entertainment’ that’s meant to tear down and demean every person across every spectrum. There’s a “purpose” to this music, all right…but it’s not what’s being presented, and yes, we are intolerant of this kind of CRAP reaching the ears of our kids and affecting our pocketbooks negatively.

I am a juggalette and i’m a senior in highschool. i’m in the top 1/3 of my class and i plan to go to a university in the fall of next year to become a music therapist.

Actually Erica….whether it’s biased or not, it’s the number three article on our website. Which is massive. So while there are plenty of websites out there devoted to ‘lo’s and ‘lette’s, this one is devoted to dissing them, which is what we think they deserve, top 1/3 of their class or not. Speaking of trolling, a while back I searched for juggalo forums, and I couldn’t find a thing that had been posted to more recently than 2 yrs. so it would seem your site has more juggalo activity than forums that were made just for them.

The Jugg posts are the MOST HIT on this website, period. The los and lettes can’t believe someone isn’t sucking up to them and letting them “be what they wannabe.” We took issue with that crap after there was a wild argument on the Southern Illinoisan in 2007 over the Gathering. We swore if we could ever get a website up and running, we’d expose these fools for what they are instead of going along to get along, like mainstream media does. That’s why this thing has gotten so out of control—because msm doesn’t call em as they see em. We do. And the juggaduds can’t stand it, so they come here and check to see what’s being said about them.

Not having any insight from the back end, I will always step off when somebody plays the “I’m a kid” card. Yeah, I thought about that baby in the belly of that “Lette” too and wondered what were that child’s chances of growing up to be anything other than a mongoloid idiot with a mother like that.
I’ve often wondered about that baby myself, the pic gave me a great idea for a short film which I don’t have time to follow up on, maybe someday.
Like I said in a post a few months ago, I don’t think that is a picture of the baby. It is a police artist sketch of the babydaddy. Kind of a wanted poster. That’s all the description she could give because they just met up at the last gathering and all she could remember about him was that he looked like a clown. Besides, she was pretty wasted and he was the only guy in the line that she could remember.

Well you’re not the first female to find me a disappointment for one reason or another ;) and I’m happy to give you the benefit of the doubt as to the truth of the claims you make about yourself. However, I still maintain that you wouldn’t be safe at an event like the Dork Carnival and that neither ICP themselves nor the avg. ‘lo would face off with a crowd (like the assholes that went after Tila last year) on your behalf.
I also maintain that my derision for ppl who are all about their status as a ‘lo or ‘lette is actually shared by ICP themselves.

Hey Sweet, I was in Texas for a week attending a Galveston Police Department retirees reunion. I had a great time, seen some folks that I had not seen in over 10 years, swapped war stories, ate some good Texas BBQ and even consumed a few cold beers. Spent a little time in Austin, took in the downtown sights and bright lights but was glad to get home and out of that crazy traffic. I see so much about the negative aspects of my culture but hardly anything about the positive aspects. Everyone seems to forget that people with criminal records and lunatics are still people. We don’t all have families that love us, I know you so-called educated people may find that hard to believe but it’s true. MOST Juggalos/Lettes don’t have any real family they can rely on, or are just generally hated for no apparent reason, at least in being Juggalo it gives people like you a reason to hate them that isn’t as narrow minded as ‘he/she has a criminal record’ or ‘he/she didn’t even finish high school’. The music might be a bit intense but it isn’t made for everyone and there are some out there who find it quite uplifting and positive. In the sense that it reminds them they are not the only ones whose life sucks so badly they just want to watch everything burn and burn along with it happily. There are millions of us and some Juggalos/Lettes don’t even listen to ICP, it is more about the way you live your life. Everyone is happy to quote the violent angry seemingly pointless lyrics but no one quotes lyrics like “you put a slave owner on the one dollar bill and you wanna know why I kill people” or “bombs are blowing up, cops are corrupt and all you care about is who the president f!*&ed”. Some Juggalos are not the most articulate and MOST Juggalos have a temper BUT we are in fact one the most open minded groups of people you will ever meet. We know a good cause when we see one and are happy to back it in any way possible. As for ALL of us being wannabe Gangsta and thugs, that is not the case, we speak that way because it just comes naturally from listening to so much ICP. I work in an area that seems to be a popular Juggalo hang out and I have noticed that a typical Juggalo is undereducated, low income or homeless, and comes from a home with little or no support system. These things can make any individual angry and looking for a way to express this deep seeded anger. ICP seems to be outwardly aggressive, that is their rap style and lyrics convey aggression and these Juggalos can relate to that. To them it is the only way they know how to deal with pent up negative emotions like anger and sadness. They also feel abandoned and tread on by society because of their situation which makes the Juggalo lifestyle even more appealing. The lifestyle shouldn’t be denounced because it pushes them further away. Instead society as a whole should start attacking the causes which is fixing the educational system and reducing drop out rates, providing low income programs that aid in providing shelter, food, clothing and employment assistance for those who need it and recognizing poor parental support structures early while they are young and offering effective counseling to provide them with better conflict resolution skills.
How about gettin off the pipe they smoke and getting the STDs cleaned up, then get a wardrobe selection that is somewhat presentable, then get a job even minimum wage, perhaps after that if they arent infertile or have an STD that prevents them from engaging in finding someone to start a family with isnt out of the question either. Living in a street gutter isnt a healthy lifestyle nor is it recommended for obvious reasons. I find it hard to feel sorry for someone who has chosen not to help themselves. And btw….pot is DOPE. One of the first things you’ll notice is that they are not too disadvantaged to find a way to get to your place from all over the country, although a certain percentage of them may need to borrow some money from you or your neighbors to get back home. That won’t matter though, because it will feel so darn good to know you’ve contributed to curing a great injustice being done to them here.
They will no doubt thrive in the environment provided by you, basking in the socioeconomic enlightenment of your patronage. If you can do that, we all promise to work really really hard on becoming better people.

I have to clarify something: when I say that you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, I was mainly referring to the many unnecessarily rude replies you’ve made in reply to previous commenters.
I agree with you that antisocial behavior which harms others should not be condoned, and that your county shouldn’t have to deal with the fallout.
What really bothers me though, is the rude way you dismiss people who either disagree with your very polarized views on principle, or are Juggalos attempting to defend themselves.
I just find it distasteful… I think being ‘educated’ you could choose to conduct yourselves better through this medium.
Try a little acceptance of those who are different from yourselves. They can’t ALL be criminals/drug addicts/unemployed/sexual deviants. Some are surely harmless people who have jobs, and happen to dress funny, wear weird clothing and paint their faces while listening to horrid music – for reasons we cannot fathom. And so what? Who are we to dictate what other people should and should not enjoy? These people would live alternative lifestyles whether the ICP existed or not.
Good luck… I truly hope that your community finds a constructive resolution somehow. How about a community petition to ban the sale of alcohol at the event? It has been successfully achieved before.
I’m a juggalette. I came across this looking up pictures on google, but, if I may, I’d like to clarify a few things.
1. The “repulsive” lyrics are why we take pride in our music. It’s an acquired taste that not many understand or appreciate. To us, it isn’t just violence and mayhem, it allows people who have difficulty expressing emotions (like us) to vent through music. Whether that be from actually writing it or just listening.
2. Our culture is not something that is constantly in your face, so to speak. Yes, some ‘los and ‘lettes take it too far, but every group of people has extremists, not just us. That is another reason we become so dedicated, because it isn’t something you can find on MTV or similar places. You have to go out and find our music. We aren’t even on the radio, except one station that must be found through satellite since it’s not public. We don’t go out and force people to accept us or even acknowledge us.
3. A common stereotype of ‘los and ‘lettes is that we only hurt society, contribute nothing and are constantly vulgar. In fact, there will always be people like that in every society, culture or group. We are not the only culture to have members that fit this criteria. Actually, all of the ‘los and ‘lettes I know have jobs, go to church, participate in community service and are very respectful and kind.
4. A song of ICP’s entitled “thy unveiling” is a common reason for the confusion over religion and juggalos. I believe the song “miracles” also plays a part. Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are both christian and do speak openly about their wish for juggalos to find God. This isn’t saying we are an organized religion or that they believe they are doing God’s will. Is it fair to assume that whenever a pop artist or metal band references God that they believe their music is God’s work?
5. Another common misconception is that juggalos are followers of ICP, as the author of this clearly believes. However, ICP is meerly the most popular band within the horrorcore genre. There are literally hundreds of bands and multiple record labels. In fact, many ‘los and ‘lettes prefer music from Boondox, Tech N9ne or Zug Izland, just to name a few.
6. Many horrorcore artists rap about violence with absolutely no restraint. They speak about hurting the elderly, women, rape, etc. I personally tend to listen to those that don’t, which the ratio for that is roughly 50:50. ICP, contrary to this author’s statement, doesn’t go into this extreme. If you look into most of their music, for example “halls of illusion”, “to catch a predator”, “bang pow boom”, “tilt a whirl”, the violence they sing about is directed to rapists, bigots, pedophiles, people who beat women or children, etc.
7. There is a message behind the music, however most don’t have the capacity to get past the vulgarity to hear it. And no, this message isn’t to blindly follow, do God’s bidding or become violent. It is to remain independent, tolerant and moral. (not moral in the sense of religion, but as the common conception of right and wrong)
8. Regarding the gathering, it is the same thing as x-fest or any other concert with similar end results. The gathering is simply view more dramatically due to the stigma behind ‘los and ‘lettes.
9. Society frowns upon us for our music lyrics, painted faces and what not, mostly because of they few who take things too far and use the music as an excuse for violence. In the words of Violent J himself, it’s entertainment. It is not supposed to tell you what to do in real life, it may express the artists views on life, but music is a source of entertainment. Too many people from too many different cultures blame music for their actions when music was never created for people to blindly do what they song says. It is something to hear or view and take pleasure in.
10. Although our culture is in almost constant scrutiny and judgement, members of the JH not only do not receive scrutiny, but doesn’t receive any form of recognition, positive or negative. The JH, juggalo holocaust, is a group that I believe (if I’m not mistaken) originated on youtube and has since branched to multiple different names. I personally have been threatened by them on youtube telling me they would hunt me down, find me, gang rape me and slit my throat because I am a juggalette. They have a website, that constantly changes name, but never content, (can be found on google) has a banner stating, “Juggalos and juggalettes: 9 raped and 13 dead just isn’t enough.” I’m not meaning to rant about them, but it is a shame that society is so largely against us, who are non-violent, yet doesn’t even care about a group with a solely homicidal purpose.

Jazmin I would say you have made one of the better if not the best fan posts to this thread. For myself, I don’t care all that much about how ‘los and ‘lettes dress or even the content of the music. I dress how I want and when it comes to music, I like what I like and won’t tolerate being told it sucks, my answer is always the same, “It sucks to YOU, and that’s fine. I like it.”
My problem with the ‘los and ‘lettes stems from the grief they bring to Hardin every year as described elsewhere. Aside from that, they creep me out because they remind me of mimes and I never could stand mimes.
Actually, I had been considering asking Jack if he would equip me with a press credential so I could spend a couple of days at the Gathering talking to fans and maybe get a chance to ask ICP a few questions too. I’m not going to, because I have a business in start-up and don’t really have the time. But I do think it would be a good idea to get some boots on the ground inside the Gathering, although I do question if one could get the straight story or just what they want the press to see.
You’ve presented a couple of things I want to look over for myself and in the meantime I think I’m going to step off from this thread for a while, the Gathering isn’t far off and the whole issue is likely going to renew itself. I want to look into JH and I’m interested in seeing if there’s any straight-up info on VJ and S2D. I’ve amused myself for going on a year now sparring with fans and frankly it’s gotten stale. You kind of added some fresh material there, so good job and stay safe.

I will say that I dont agree with most of what the juggalos do and I dont want my kids involved in it at any point of their lives. However you do have the right to hold a meeting or do your thing so long as it does not disrupt the normal way of life for others around you. This includes the ones who go do nasty things in public places including restrooms and otherwise. This includes doing illicit/illegal substances or even the legal substances that are used in an illegal fashion. The use of face paint and funny clothes just makes you look less intelligent than what you would otherwise look. I hope this isnt the regular attire you wear when you’re with your families but whatever rocks your boat. If there wasnt such a mass quantity of juggs acting up at the same place there probably wouldnt be so much ridicule over the attire you or others choose to wear. If you have a mission do it peaceably and there wouldn’t be as many problems. My comments are not intended to be racist, judgemental, a precursor to nazism, a bigot or otherwise but when someone or a group of someones in this case chooses to act up and cause problems for a whole community well what can you expect. If I were to start slapping you in the face (for example) how many times would you let me slap you before you slapped me back? Think about this the next time you are in southern Illinois or anywhere else you all gather. This is whats causing the problems when businesses are looted and vandalized and a whole community is turned upside down as a result of your group. Yes there is good in every group as well as bad but there should be some sort of discipline even among the leaders of the Juggs that would not condone things like theft, vandalism, looting and making health hazards in public places. This message is not set out to attack you personally but there is trouble in your group of friends and it needs to be straightened out. None of us are above the law…i find the following statement especially selfish and well just dumb: Hardin County is in our judicial circuit, and what affects the circuit—having to pay for out-of-county jail stays of young ignorant people having substance abuse issues; having the court bound up with out-of-state people who will never be back in the area again after getting busted for possession, fighting, etc, creating uncollected fines and fees; sending our police and ambulances (all funded by taxpayers’ dollars) all up and down our highways—affects us. i will stop here…now anyone wh agrees with that…put yourself into that exact situation(being out of state and in an accadent) wouldnt you want to be taken care of by a timely emergancy care unit and treated??? stylz, I would have a problem if I was refused medical treatment or not taken in a timely manner, without a doubt! I guess the difference is, I am most likely a generation or two plus a few years older than the juggs I can see in the picture here. With that being said, as soon as I was of age, I WORKED very hard and was able to pay for my own health insurance after getting off of my mom and dads. I always tried and still do to never put myself in a situation where some kind of traumatic or life changing injury may occur brought on by a lack of poor judgment from me.
