Shawneetown Street Rally 2010!
Here’s a look at the big party held annually in Old Town, this year held July 15-17! Proceeds from the sale of wristbands to get into the festivities goes toward the village of Old Shawneetown.
Above, a $10 armband gets you into the party.
Above, a shot looking westward from the entrance to the party.
The park in Old Town was turned into a tent city for the fest.
Bikes of all sorts lined every street.
Above, outside the old bank building.
Above, there was uber police presence because of the pervasive rumors of a throwdown between Hell’s Angels and the Outlaws motorcycle gangs. No problems, though; all was quiet and rather pleasant, despite the heat.
Above, a shot (at a distance) of one of the wet t-shirt contests. It drew quite a crowd.
Above, Jill Burroughs, of Harrisburg, managed the bar out back.
Above, Kevin Skurat, of Benton, enjoying a refreshing beverage behind Hogdaddy’s, in the shade.
The afternoon band was AWESOME.
Above, a pleasantly inebriated bunch shook it to “Cat Scratch Fever”…and they gained quite an audience after a few minutes!
Above: We loved this one! Kenny & Marlene Roberts of Eldorado tooling around in their barstool ride, the perfect harmony of beer and movement!
Three ladies in the front there, enjoying corn dogs.
We’re dieting and couldn’t have any fest food…
Above, 12-week-old Rocky is held by his human, Roger Bodine, outside the Bodine trailer. Rocky, Roger and Mrs. Bodine, Heather, were visiting from Mt. Vernon, Ill.
Above, Ashley House, of McHenry, Kentucky, found a way to beat the oppressive heat of Saturday and still enjoy the festivities.
Above, these gents have their priorities in order with their camper fully stocked. In the center is Rick Brown of Terre Haute, and at right (in the do-rag) is Jeffery James, of New Albany, Ind., who said he was “damn glad to be here!” and looked forward to telling his friends he was going to be featured on Disclosure’s web coverage of the event.
Above: there were plenty of watering holes for the partiers, one of them being a Disclosure vendor, Bob’s Bar and Bait, located in an old church building.
Above, a view of parking behind the bank building.
If you can believe it, we have another whole two pages of photos for you (all different than these!) in the upcoming August Special Edition, on stands Aug. 2-4…if you didn’t see yourself here, maybe you’ll make the print version!

Hey Moonrner I seen you and the wife in the pics. Shame Radar is so scared that he brought in all the troopers. Looks like people had fun anyway.
buncha drunks and sluts. embarrassing.
Do you not recognize Jill Burroughs, Admin? Might want to check your archives….
@Pawn: Why do you think we shot her pic?
@truthteller: Among the multitude of reasons why we shoot this particular event.
hey, if you want your site to glorify public intoxication and exibitionism go for it bud. it’s a free country. just my opinion, but it kinda undermines your superb investigations of our local politicians. that’s what drives your readership. local scoops. can’t get enough!
@truthteller: You totally misunderstood the gist of my response. Think again. Go the other direction.
Just testing ya! Haha
FL.Reader, Wasnt it pretty, I saw someone taking pics, thought they might have been from the Daily Register!
Do they shoot this also?
ok. i’ll take your word for it. doesn’t really reflect that in the text though.
@truthteller: I was being purposefully ambiguous.
ADMIN,Hell there is,nt anybody with balls enough from the DR that would go down there! And they are now closed on Sat..
Who is the Jill Chick and which pic is she in?
Thanks guys for the shots…
admin, you never struck me as ambiguous. anyway, happy sleuthing.
Aww, thanks, truthteller.
And you’re welcome, WINWKR. We always have a good time at the rally. The band was amazing. I just wish we could’ve had some of that FOOD.
Who is in the pic in the SCDC post, Admin? Or can you give us a hint?
Actually…we don’t know that. We just know that that was taken as it was going down today.
We promise, guys…when we’re allowed to tell, we’ll tell.
What is keeping you from telling?
A promise to some people. We do keep em. But there’s so much buzz about this, we figured we’d get a jump on it, regardless of how vague.
good one admin.
Do ya like the poll? I had to think about those responses…we only just learned to do this without our IT guy…
@Pawn: no…sorry…wish I could. With any good fortune, we’ll be able to bring the whole thing to you either in the morning or at least in the Special Edition in two weeks.
Just one hint? Ha
The poll was a toss up,But i liked Gully comeing back with a bigger cane,LOL
But you didnt put Henshaw in it!
Wouldn’t bet my life on it. But by the poll it looks like Pawns buddy Wilson is sure getting attention. And instincts tell me it doesn’t look like attention I would want. LMAO. Good one Admin.
I do agree with Moonrunner Henshaw definitely deserves a spot!
Well, this time, apparently, Henshaw did his job…
http://www.disclosurenewsonline.com/?p=3978
Truthteller, if you dont like it, dont look at it, some of us had good, clean, sober, fun down there!
And some of has some good, dirty, drunk fun!
He hasnt yet,Have to see how it comes out!Todd may just get a slap on the hand and walk being he is such a good person and leader.
Sometimes I think that Henshaw is forced to do his job. Then after he just has to sit back and try and figure out how to cover it up or make it go away. Being a judge in the past he is quite an intelligent man and knows alot of ways to handle these situations. Todd probably knows alot of things going on in Saline and believe me he sure is gonna use them if needed. So there are most likely many asses drawed up so tight right now you couldn’t stick a toothpick through a one of them. I say Great job to the father and ISP.
GREAT JOB TO JACK & ANG Done good!
Does anyone know how many went to the street rally? I heard they had less this year.
I haven’t heard a figure…I’ll have Ang give Linda a call and get an update. It did look like there were less there this year, but we were there earlier in the day this year, too, and things rev up at night.
wtf….no boobie pics?
Rumor has it that Gary Forby gave $50,000 donation to The Old Shawneetown Rally.Was this tax $ or was it out of his pocket.He got one of the best spots to park his camper at,{HEAR SAY}
And if this is true then why in the Hell would Radar Patton want to try and close the rally down?Thats a lot of money he can steal from!
And why would Forby be donating money anyhow?
You can pretty well assume that if Forby actually DID donate $50,000 to Old Shawneetown, it was the taxpayers money. I’d bet my life it wasn’t HIS OWN pocket change. Come on, get real…what pol actually gives back something that is HIS?
At $10.00 a head you would think there would have been enough money to cover this Rally,Plus vendors had to pay to set up.
I heard it was for electricty!
Money from the sale of the armbands goes first to cover the cost of the fest, then whatever is left over goes to the maintenance and upkeep of the village. Old Town is a forgotten place. We’re glad there’s someone concerned enough about it (the Oldhams) to keep things going, Forby notwithstanding.
So the money that was given by Forby was for maintenance of Old Shawneetown.
And we all know they need it!
Why dog old shawneetown? Its not a bad place to live really? Not all of us are trashy. So get off that Im sure your town needs it too.
Sandy wasnt dogging Old Town,Was just saying that they need the money to do a lot of work in that town.I wishI have been around that town all my life and still love to go there…ed they could afford to clean the beach back up!
Screwed taht up,LOL. I wished they could afford to clean the beach back up!
Be assured that nobody is dogging Old Town. I have a lot of fond memories of the place myself…in my younger days, you understand.
Any monies they get from that event is fine by me and most of the general public, I’d think. I was just teasing about Forby. He doesn’t give a rip about Old Town. There isn’t enough votes there to make or break his election. And all small towns in southern Illinois could use a helping hand with donation dollars, no matter where they float in from. I don’t attend that event or not much of any of the other area events, but I’m always happy to read about each town’s success. Thanks to Jack & Ang, I got to have a good look at this one.
I think they did recieve money for the State Park. I don’t know who got it for them.
Old Shawneetown looks like it is cleaner now than it was. Maybe they are moving foward.
Does anyone know how much Old Shawneetown got after all expences were paid?
The thing is none of this money has ever been used…rumors are its pocketed
I can tell u that the money that comes from the armbands for the street rally goes to the city of Old Shawneetown, after the expenses are paid. I can tell u the head count from 2 yrs ago and it was 9200. I also heard that Tim York is pulling out of Street Rally and moving his part to Hogrock…..someone might want to check this out, he didn’t help out as much this year as he has in the past. There is a Street Rally Committee that consists of the bar owners, and maybe a city official or two. They have also donated a part of the proceeds to the ISP, Gallatin Co Sherrifs, and the local police.
I had a great time at the street rally!
