Major drug seizure in Saline; arrest pending: UPDATE
CORRECTED 06.10.10 TO REFLECT PROPER SPELLING/LOCATION/AMOUNTS
HARRISBURG—We’ve received official word that there has been a massive drug seizure following execution of a search warrant at a home in Harrisburg.
The home of Roger Hutchison, 50, was searched by local law enforcement and members of the drug task force earlier today, 06.09.10. Found in the home has weighed out to be 10.1 POUNDS of marijuana (at 454 grams per pound, that’s a boatload), $14,200-plus cash, less than 15 grams of cocaine, and alprazolam, apparently without a script for it.
NOT found in the home was Hutchison.
Authorities have said Hutchison was called by local law enforcement and told there was a warrant. He in turn told them that he’d be there in 20 minutes. However, he never showed up, so law enforcement entered the home and located the bounty. As of this writing, Hutchison is “nowhere to be found” but officials believe he’ll be apprehended soon, as he “probably won’t go far,” likely because they now have his operating capital.
Officials have confirmed that they have been trying to nail Hutchison as a distributor for a long time.
More details and hopefully a mug shot of Hutchison may be forthcoming in the morning, 09.10.10.

Hannah, I thought that I made it clear in my post that marijuana wasn’t something that I would consider a horrible epidemic like meth but apparently I didn’t spell it out enough. Meth is terrible and that was what was my main focus as sheriff. While I was sheriff there were record amounts of meth busts and I don’t recall even one person getting jail time over a small amount of marijuana although there mave have been.
As a law enforcement officer, it wasn’t my job to determine what laws there were but to try and enforce them according to their severity and effect on the community. The elected lawmakers make the laws, not the police officers although discretion is allowed. Meth arrests were certainly much more sought after than a marijuana bust, which was looked at as usually a trivial matter.
I think we are on the same page and I hope this explains it better.
Yeah, Dennis, we’re on the same page and I do know where you’re coming from.
Former Mayor of Ledford, there are plenty of reasons why his bond would be kept. For starters, anytime you’re arrested, you automatically forfeit 10% of the cash bond you post, its a bond fee, so if you post $100, you would only get at most, $90 back. Secondly, if you post bond and fail to appear on your court date, the judge will often forfeit all of your original bond and issue another warrant, so if you skip court again, it keeps going like dominoes and you keep losing money. Or, I’ve seen cases in some places (not saying this is right or wrong, just what ive seen) where they have dropped charges on someone, but as a condition of dismissal, forfeited all of the bond money. Generally in really super old cases that the people have been dragging out for years or people who just keep fta’ing over and over again. I can’t see them keeping all of this guys bond money unless there is a reason. If they arrest him, then drop charges or whatever and someone says they kept all of the money, someone’s more than likely opening their mouth without all the facts.
Hey…I want to apologize to everyone. I don’t have the full information on James Tucker. I thought we did because when Henshaw’s office sent all the charges the other day, I saw Tucker’s name in there on one of the faxed sheets. I just now went to do the story and I see that all Tucker’s name is in reference to is that Hutchison is alleged to have sold him pot. I have no other information that ties them together. So for everyone who’s interested in this story, I apologize. I thought we were going to get all the stuff that may have tied it together. Apparently not, so it’ll have to be featured here if we’ve got four weeks between papers, or the next print version (which I think we’re considering doing, which means another paper in three weeks. Gotta get that farm house finished). So again, I apologize. We’ll get it eventually.
@ Gingerbread-Man: Thanks for that info. Never been incarcerated and have very little first hand knowledge of what goes on with bond/bail/etc. I appreciate the info.
I have it on very good authority that Roger’s bail was kept. Now I don’t know if Roger’s situation fits into any of the criteria you mentioned on how they can keep his bail, but I will certainly pass the info along to people.
Thanks again!
Eh, theres tons of ways they could keep it legally. Best bet, is if someone wants to know, find out which specific case it was and ask the circuit clerk.
They should make him pay taxes on that money. There should be a law where dopers pay taxes when they get arrested. Same goes for the meth prostitutes. They should contribute like the rest of us who make an honest living.
Couldn’t agree more n the tax thingy on drugs, but of course let’s put those taxes to the proper use and it the right hands!
Admin, any word on the bust that took place in Eldorado on the same day? I think it was 5lbs of marijauna…not sure though.
That’s what I put a post comment up about a few days ago…we didn’t get that paperwork. I thought we did. We had documents sent by fax the day official charges were filed, and I saw James Tucker’s name in there and assumed that we got the paperwork on him, too. We didn’t; it was just paperwork indicating that one of the charges Hutch is facing is selling between 500 and 2,000 grams of pot to Tucker. Tucker got his ass busted, probably, and likely rolled on Hutch.
That’s about all we know. We’ll get to it as soon as we can, but it will probably not be until after we get deliveries done.
Hmm…sounds about right
Yes That scum of a human Jim Tucker is out of jail and rolling around just fine. I can almost all but guarantee that sorry excuse rolled on Hutch. He is a well known thief and horrible person. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people he has deceived, stolen from, and taken advantage of….such a horrible person.
sorry for my lack of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure in my last post. It is early and I really cannot put into words my dislike for that man.
I think under the circumstances it can be excused. We haven’t heard one GOOD thing about him…
Your dislike shows.
Just saw that the DR posted story about the “others” involved that were arrested in Eldorado. James Tucker, who according to the DR told the police he had been buying from Roger every couple of weeks for a while and they also arrested Tucker’s wife Cathy (Hiller) Tucker. Looks liek the DR got the scoop on you this time admin.
WAT?! The DR might have done it’s job for once?
Also ITT hell freezes over and pigs fly.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while…
That’s right admin….
You guys do a GREAT job! Just had to give you a little rub on this one.
We deserved it on this one…I should have had Ang call Henshaw back on the Tucker thing but I didn’t know our paperwork was incomplete.
They probably saw that we didn’t have it and jumped high and hard to make sure they DID…it’s kinda predictable that way sometimes…
You cover how many counties, 10? Most newspapers only cover one town or maybe one county and do a half-assed job doing that so we will cut you some slack since you are doing the job of about a dozen newspapers.
Admin, I read that you have not heard one GOOD thing about Tucker. Well I can say a few good things, but before I do, please allow me to clarify I DO NOT IN ANY WAY condone, use, or enable the delivery or consumption of ANY illegal substance. I think that the behavior that these men engaged in is stupid, reckless, unneccessary and hurtful to the people around them.
Stating all of these facts, I would like to say that both Tucker and his wife have taken in MANY kids over the years that did not have places to go or parents to watch over them and provide for them. They may not be model parents or people but they have provided shelter and food for many kids who may not have had it any other way even when they really did not have the resources to do so. Also, they both love animals and would take any stray walking down the streets and feed it and allow it to stay in their home. Furthermore, they are both HIGHLY INTELLIGENT people who, sadly, are probably smarter than many of the people reading this. Just because people do stupid things does not make them stupid people. I do not know Hutch well, but I am sure he does have decent qualities about him as well. Everyone should consider that these men are not young, and have done this for some time so they are obviously smarter than they appear. Before readers go spreading rumors like wildfire about Tucker Rolling on Hutch, what they need to know what the DR left out is that they both were already caught on survellience and were both set up by DEA informants wearing wires. So, allow them to serve the time the justice system provides for such offenses and may they go in peace.
Okay, we’ve heard one good thing. Now let me explain something.
In our print version, we spell out the charges against Hutch. And one of the charges says explicitly that Hutch sold between 500 and 2,000 grams of pot to James Tucker.
Now I don’t know if Tucker “rolled on” Hutch. But someone watched Hutch enough to observe him sell so much pot to Tucker, in one transaction, that they could spell it out in the charges, there is a DIRECT connection, not “may be connected” like the Daily Ragister said.
People can whine and carry on as much as they want to about pot being illegal—IT STILL IS. If people like Hutch and the Tuckers are so fuggin intelligent, they need to get off their asses, do something legitimate to fund their lives, become activists for legalization (kinda like the Rowes have done for concealed carry in this state) and MAKE A CHANGE FOR EVERYONE, not just surreptitiously run an illegal substance and incur public disdain.
Ommentress: “Before readers go spreading rumors like wildfire about Tucker Rolling on Hutch” The DR clearly had that Tucker told the police that Hutchison had been selling him pot on a regular basis for quite some time. I don’t think that is a rumor, or the DR would not have printed it.
Admin: I was also a little confused about the DR’s choice of the headline of “May Be connected” as well. I think their own article made it fairly clear that there was a direct connection between the arrests and charges.
I never commented on the legality or illegality of the substance and I directly stated that I do not agree with those actions. I completely agree that they wasted their intelligence. But I just had to say that people that do horrible things that become public knowledge can have done things good in their lives that the public just doesn’t know or care about because it isn’t juicy. That is all i’m saying.
Point made. Thanks, Commentress.
Beancounter, I think the DR, as well as many other publications, have proven on several occasions that do not have all their ducks in a row when printing something. Thus being the invention of retraction. There are motivations for it being printed that way. Just hope the source that leaked it doesn’t get what they wanted out of it.
First off the Disclosure News should replace DR period. Hats off to you Disclosure, for your works and reporting the truths of this corrupt county.
There is no ‘law’ or authority in Saline County that doesn’t have, had or will at some point their hands in the criminal ‘cookie jar’ most of them ARE the ‘criminals’. Here in these parts it’s a ‘do as we say, not as we do.’
Mr. Hutchison was an ‘EASY’ bust. Never mind the people that damn near killed him 2 years ago have NEVER been arrested and charged. Whoever rolled over on him was probably paid off with guarantee of their own criminal charges erased. This is a scratch my @ss, grease the right palms and we will look the other way county and EVERYONE KNOWS it.
Most of us that sadly still have to live in this area grew up and still party with half, if not all of, those holding these ‘authority’ positions. Wonder how many of these good old boys have driven home well above the legal limit while wearing their badge? I know of a couple lol but I don’t have a badge so my words or opinion are just mine and don’t count, however am pretty sure their closet is FULL of MANY dirty little secrets they would be serving time for IF found out.
Listen to your scanner! Its a JOKE and the ‘law’ wonders why they get no respect? I would rather live next door to a stoner any day than a meth lab!
Meth houses are like the schools and churches here ON EVERY BLOCK, yet when law abiding citizens do report these cockroaches WE are treated as just a ‘nosey’ neighbor. Moments later our complaints merely used as amusement for the ‘officers’ and dispatch, our calls giving them something to whine about ON THEIR RADIOS depending on the names of the callers they degrade the callers ON THE SCANNER with their own personal opinions. Totally UNprofessional. Try a REAL city and see if Barney and Roscoe get to sit in their air conditioned vehicles or hang out at the basketball games or sit behind the stations glass surfing the internet and facebooking while waiting for a ‘call for help or justice’. God forbid they actually have to get out and physically run, not to mention take someone down one on one.
As for Mr. Hutchison, know who your REAL FRIENDS are, if they want to get high UNTIL its legalized here… send them to Saline Counties drug task force candy store to make their purchase. I hope you sue Saline County and expose all these crooked people upholding their OWN law in this ever growing cesspool those of ‘authority’ have allowed it to become. :p
Drug dealers do not want pot to be legal. If it is legal, a lot of people will grow it and the price and the profit will drop. There will be much less incentive to sell it. As long as it is illegal, the price will stay high. Probably a bad choice of words there.
Nah, that’s great. Refer to one of the posts where I had a convo with someone about crossing pot plants with coffee bean plants. License issuing and all that…the state could come out of it deficit. I’d give a link but we’re so frickn tired right now I can hardly see straight….did I spell everything right?
Can’t see straight admin? You haven’t been by to see Roger have you?
Sorry, I can’t help myself.
Nah, this is definitely NOT a recreational “can’t-see-straight.”
Let’s hope our next couple of people we hire can take some of the load off us…we’re about to get newsed to death.
I see you recall our chat about the Pot and coffee bean crossings.LOL! It was good!
That was hysterical!!! I think I was about a slap-happy then as I am now….
Disgusted Daily: I heard that several Saline County officials were involved in causing the oil spill in the Gulf? Did you hear that too?
Disgusted Daily; This is just a rumor, but Saline County officials may have also caused Global Warming.
I did find one point in your rant that makes sense. The Disclosure does a fine job of reporting the real news.
lol Dwight and slamdunc … as said I don’t wear a badge nor would i want to in this county, so my ‘opinion’ is just that, mine and doesn’t count… if it offends? then I’d say my words struck one of your nerves and that would be YOUR problem. Have a great day!
Let me start by saying that I DO NOT condone illegal activity of any kind in any way shape or form. But I have known Roger since the Ledford days as well when there was a big group of us who hung around…I mean, afterall, not to many of us had drivers license so we hung around our little town. While Roger did a bad thing, that by no means makes him a bad person!!! He has the kindest heart, is very soft spoken&respective of everyone& would literally give you the shirt off his back or his last dime. Yes what he was doing is wrong but he wasn’t & never has been out to hurt anyone! Also, let’s remember, pot is an herb put on this earth from God, it isn’t a man-made substance like meth! My daddy died back in 2007 at the age of 71& had NEVER EVER smoked pot in his life. One of his many friends asked him if he would be offended if he brought him a cpl joints from a mutual friend of theirs to help with the nausea from the chemo. He said no, he was willing to try anything at that point since he wasn’t able to eat & nothing was relieving the pain! He called me a within no time & told me about it…he said “sis, i’ve never smoked a marijuana cigarette in my life, do you know those things cost $5.00 a piece but they seem to be helping cuz I can eat now& my pain seems to be under control”. I couldn’t help but to giggle because he was sooo talkative & felt better, which thrilled me to no end! He told me..”I only take a puff or two from each cigarette but it helps” I told him “daddy, you don’t have to make any excuses to me, if it helps you that’s all that matters”! I could always tell in his voice when he had taken a cpl of puffs & would ask him if he had toked a lil..he would tell me yeah I did. Of course I was there everyday & he didn’t want to smoke it in front of me but I finally told him to not worry about it cuz I had found some for him. I sat there watching my dying daddy taking a few tokes from a joint thinking…Don’t Bogart that joint my friend…lol..but I hadn’t smoked pot in many years & didn’t want my daddy seeing me doin so! So, for this looong post I just wrote, just because you you do bad things or illegal things, it doesn’t make you a bad person! Thank you for reading this!!!!Sincerely, thank you!
What does your dad, and Im sorry your father is going thru this, have to do with Roger breaking the law by selling pot to my child or yours or your best friends 12 year old. And dont say he doesnt cause you dont know who ends up with the pot he is selling… He broke the Illinois law, and this isnt his first time, nor his first time of doing other wrong things… Yes I know cause I also grew up with him… Dont try to paint his picture as a Good, lite spoken guy because he ISNT,,, Sorry to bust your bubble… Grow up S & S… or WAKE up.:choler:
Elwood, I was just trying to shed a little light on the medicinal purposes of marijuana is all. My daddy passed in 2007. So, thank you for your kind words as to what he went through. As I said in my very first line on my previous post, I am not in any way, shape or form condoning what Roger did at all! YES, it is illegal in Illinois, BUT I just know it helped my dad period who had ALWAYS been against it. I haven’t seen Roger in a few years or so because I am grown up& do not, nor have I ever had to rely on things such as that to live in this world or economy. I was simply speaking of what I remembered him as about 6-10 years ago when I last ran into to him while I was working& what I remembered of him as a teenager. Since I do not run around with that crowd, bunch or whatever any longer, since my early teenage yrs, I honestly thought he had cleaned his act up as he told me & showed me his used car lot across the road where I was at. I wished him well& went about my work. He WAS &ALWAYS has been nothing but kind to me. YES, he NEEDS to pay for his illegal activities..I never said that he didn’t. I am sure sometimes when I post that it comes across wrong to some people and I apologize if you didn’t get the meaning of it in it’s entirety. But, once again, thank you for your kind words towards my daddy’s illness& passing.
@Sweet&Sour, I don’t know this Roger guy so have no opinion of him personally. Yes, he broke the law but I’m a firm believer that marijuana use should be made legal, period. I’m sorry about your father but am glad he was able to find a little relief to help him at the “end of the road”. I would be eligible for Medicinal Marijuana and think it would surely be a whole lot better for my body than the “crap” that I legally take. I smoked many years ago for “entertainment” and I will try it again for medical reasons ( the entertainment aspect is just a perk
) if it’s ever made legal OR when I get bad enough physically. What are they gonna do? Send an old lady to jail for a joint? OH WELL. My condolences to you…
:p leave the cancer patients alone Their are copingthe best way they can.
eileen&dabby, Thank you both for your kind words&understanding of the point I was trying to get across. I honestly appreciate it more than you can imagine! eileen, honey, I hope you can find some relief from the pain that you’re going through. I agree that all the crap they give now, pills, patches&everything else is most likely worse for us than an herb that has been here since the beginning of time..example; marijuana! I wish&hope for you pain free years! Once again, Thank you, to BOTH of you! Take care!
@Sweet&Sour, there’s nothing to thank me for. I can tell that your daddy was very fortunate to have you for a daughter. Best wishes to you and thank you for YOUR kind words.
Brian Mann ?, someone mentioned him earlier but I can’t find the post. WHY wasn’t he arrested when the Martin deal went down? And believe this or not, about 7 yrs. ago I was with 2 friends down in Gal.Co. and the friend driving had to stop to see a friend. It was somewhere way back in the sticks. The other 2 of us stayed in the friend’s car. I didn’t learn till MUCH LATER that same friend had stopped to buy cocaine from BRIAN MANN. That same friend has been in prison now (2nd trip) for the past few years for manufacturing meth. This just gets more interesting all the time.
He lives at or near Double M or Triple M Camp Ground in Lemminton. The Mann Brothers have been slinging dope for a very long time.
Cannabis hemp is absolutely the most necessary plant in our lives. With a seemingly endless variety of uses, it will affect everyone on the planet in the next century and many in just the next few years. The nature of the plant allows it to provide for nearly all of the things we use in our lives.
Textiles and Fiber – Cannabis fibers are much stronger than cotton or flax, and also resist rain and will not easily wear out. In modern society many companies are already devoted to cannabis hemp products produced from this fiber. Retail stores all around the country carry these fine goods.
Paper – For many centuries we used hemp instead of wood for our paper. Now there are important reasons to make the switch back to hemp. One acre of hemp will produce as much paper as 4.1 acres of trees. Hemp paper production would use 10-20% the amount of the chemicals. We use more paper now than we ever have, and this means we are cutting down even more of our precious forests. But we can produce paper of better quality using cannabis. Until the year 1883 we made 75-90% of our paper from hemp. The Constitution was written on hemp paper.
Energy – The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy both have stressed the importance of renewable energy and its role in sustaining our future. As an annual crop with high cellulose content, cannabis is the best plant to burn for our energy needs. Cannabis could give clean energy to everyone. Making the transition to cannabis hemp energy is the next and most essential step in our global evolution, and the first step in the healing of our planet.
Hemp Seed – The oils from hemp seed will provide a seemingly endless bounty of products, from shampoo to paint to lubricants to food. Companies worldwide are beginning to appreciate this feature of the plant. Natural hemp soaps, cleansers, balms, and various other hygiene products are available to consumers today. Varnish and paints from hemp are easy to make and long lasting, and are cleaner than chemical products. Birds in the wild that eat hemp seed will live longer and breed more. We have long made a feedstock of the cannabis seed. Hemp seed industries could provide jobs in the United States and help the economy.
Building Materials – Hemp fiber and pulp can be processed into drywall or plywood. Cannabis can be used to make particleboard, cabinetry, paneling, and other home construction materials. Using hemp for building would save trees and create new jobs. We could literally build a house from Hemp.
Plastic – Making plastics from hemp would be easy with current technologies. This would mean much less harm to the environment than petrochemical plastics.
Medicine – Cannabis has been used as medicine since the beginning of civilization. Hemp is probably the most effective form of pain relief, except possibly for opiates like morphine. Hemp is certainly much less addictive, and is safer than acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Until 1937 we used the medicines in resinous cannabis (named because the psychoactive compounds are found in resin sacs on the leaves) for pain relief in our everyday lives. We even gave the medicine to children. Cannabis extracts were an accepted part of our culture, and no one ever thought to outlaw the helpful hemp plant.
In the 21st Century, cannabis is destined to become the most necessary crop on the earth.
Southern Illinois has a great climate for growing this plant and legalizig it could be the greatest economic boom ever for this area.
Just sayin’.
@Top Cat, is it Leamington? That’s where my former friend lived. Like I said, it was in the middle of the Boonies where he was at. From where we pulled in, a kind of like driveway and stopped, you couldn’t see what kind of building it even was. My gosh. I can just see having to have explained that one!
@OldDog…thanks for the info. It’s worth printing out.
WOW OldDog…VERY WELL PUT& ALOT OF INFO I didn’t know about! Some I did, but you have definitely put a whole new meaning & perspective on the MANY uses of cannabis & the use of the hemp seed oil derived from it. I know I have some necklaces & bracelets made from hemp plants & they are very durable through swimming, sleeping(when I forget to take them off)and so on. Some of the tanning lotions I use as well have hemp seed oil in them. Some soaps, shampoos & moisturizing lotions I have accumulated over the years from foreign countries(Jamaica)lol, have hemp in them too. Thank you for enlightening us ALL of the MANY uses of this plant!!!! You are a very wise man & I truly appreciate your research on this & sharing it.
@Old Dog…Amen…someone told all the important uses of hemp. I’ve been in favor of the plant for years. It should be legalized for many reason. Good job, Old Dog.
Thanks. It just seems like a no brainer. Check it out. This area could be the experiment like Future Gen only green. SIU could use their resources for developing small businesses and Glenn could use his pull to make it happen financially just like he did with the Miner’s and the new Football Stadium and Arena. We could all have farms with green jobs, tax credits, a medical need could be filled and it could all be done with legal citizens making good wages. California has shops that sell brownies. We could be serious and make everyday necessities and be a model for the rest of the world not to mention save our beautiful forests. All it takes is a seed and lots of work. I’m happy to see that we all want to get logical and pull ourselves out of this mess we are in. Let’s all have our children bloom where we they are planted instead of leaving this special place.
