Gallatin Co. coach said to have been escorted from school by law enforcement

Vinyard has been coaching basketball at Gallatin Schools
GALLATIN CO.—We were told at about 3 p.m. today (02.24.10) that a coach/teacher at Gallatin County schools, Steve Vinyard, was escorted out of the schools by Scott Sauls, and someone was seen toting some boxes from the building at the same time.
It was the original understanding of our sources that there had been an arrest made, but we have not been able to officially confirmed that yet, hence the update and change in headline.
We have been in contact with Saline sources who have noted that IF there has been an arrest, Vinyard will not be held there, as the facility looks to be full, so the inference is that he will be transported to White County. We have also been in contact with White Co. Sheriff Doug Maier, who said that they “don’t have him yet,” but that he will notify us when they get him. This will probably include a mug shot as well as preliminary charges.
Vinyard is a former coach at Harrisburg High School. We are receiving information that he is related to a specific law enforcement official in the Harrisburg area; we know the name but are not saying at this time.
UPDATE 10:33 P.M.
We’re adding this after making it as a post at the bottom:
Our information had two law enforcement officers present: GallCo deputy Bobby Glover, who was called to the school at about 1:30; then a second source had it that Trooper Sauls had also been called, but unlike confirmation that Glover was present (which came from law enforcement officials), we could not confirm Sauls’ presence, try as we might.
We were NOT told he was restrained. We WERE told that someone toted boxes for him. We WERE told that IF he were going to be arrested, he would not be held at Saline, but would be transported to White; that was also confirmed by LE officials.
This is a bad situation but what we’re coming to learn about the investigation, it could definitely develop into a WORSE situation. Let’s hope everyone really does the right thing in this.
Again, no official arrest. More on this as we are able to get it on the site. Keep checking back.

Are you talking about archiving post comments? There might be a way to do that so that you’d only see like 4 or 5, then have to click to get the rest of them to display, like on Facebook. We’ll check into it, but it may be awhile before we can affect it.
I think concerned parents should go if they have the knowledge or not ,to find out the truth.And if this is the truth he should be ,fired and band from and school properity.
If this is true and I think it is he is a sexual predator and should be jialed and watched for the rest of his life.
If Drug Dealers and drugies with dope on them can’t get within however many feet of a School or Chruch ,what applies to sexual perverts?
So is there any word on law enforcement being involved in this beyond leading him off school grounds?

Enough didn’t say that what Vinyard allegedly did this time is anything like what he’s allegedly done in the past. If what we’re reading is right, this incident that may or may not have happened at the school is quite mild by comparison. Enough is just worried that it’s another manifestation of a problem that’s apparently gone on for a few decades. And yes, “plainly,” Enough does know the family, regardless of what you may think.

They just posted on their Facebook that Steve Vinyard was suspended for the rest of the 09/10 school year. They also said they would post the story soon.. so I’d say we’re all waiting.
Does anyone find it kind of funny that the daily register did not cover this story? I wonder if the guy wasn’t related to some of the powerful in harrisburg if the story would have been in the paper?

Well, i’m old but not so old to not remember what went on during the bus ride to school and all the talk that happened there. That being said yes he should restrain himself, as an adult in charge he should be setting an example for the kids. Not doubting that radar doesn’t care for his kids but he seems to lack some restraint and patience. An ocasional ” what the hell was that” from a coach wouldn’t bother me. However the first instant of harsh language used to belittle my child would result in a harsher ass whooping for the grown up who knows better than to act like that. Now i admit, i would not have the patience to work with other peoples kids, so i don’t put myself in the position of having to. Just maybe they should follow that rule themselves..

He has no reason to be in the locker room while they shower for sure. As a coach he needs the locker room but he should give them a time table to get their showers done before he goes in to do his post game coaching, or either do it before they hit the showers. The whole putting whatever on their legs, these girls aren’t so young they can’t rub ointment or whatever on for themselves.

These guys are not coaching collegiate athletes or pros. These are children participating in school sports because it is fun. Curse at my boy and watch what happens under the “radar”. Legendary coach Al Way never cursed or raised his voice and he took the very first football team in history from downstate to a State Championship game in just a few years and built a powerhouse program with head coach Ken Joggerst who was every team members friend and would never belittle his players. You fathers of these young men he is treating like shit need to reach down and make sure you still have some balls then go approach this guy. The girls do not use those showers, never have. After Radar was done with his post game speeches the girls would start undressing while he was still walking out. They didn’t care, they looked at him like their grandpa. He would actually get on to them if they even took their shoes off before he was done talking.

No. Nothing came of this because Gallatin didn’t want the embarrassment. It would open up a whole can o’worms that would have tendrils into Saline, and for some reason, Gallatin people don’t like Saline people nosing around in their bidness. But no, this isn’t affecting the Fort case at all.
