It just goes to show: when delivering heroin, you should pull the needle outta your arm before proceedingPosted by Chris Beavers on Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 @ 6:27 pm.
PAXTON, Ill.—The big news for Gallatin County this week is the arrest of a native New Haven son, David Duffy, 33, who was found Sunday night in his 1998 Lexus ES300 with southern Illinois’ latest (alleged) heroin shipment.
According to police in Paxton, Ill. (Ford Co., way up north), the Lexus was found parked on the west side of Paxton at the intersection of Illinois highway 9 and Industrial Park Drive at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday night. Law enforcement sources told Disclosure today that the vehicle was running, and it appeared that Duffy had stopped at the intersection like a law-abiding citizen, but then parked the car and did something a little less than law-abiding—like shooting up a little heroin.
Duffy was found in the driver’s seat, passed out, with a used syringe—and two bags of heroin, also ‘open and used’—on the console next to him. A drug dog ‘alerted’ to the presence of drugs in the vehicle (like having found the used stuff in the front seat wasn’t good enough) and a subsequent search uncovered 23 bags of ‘suspected’ heroin, weighing a total of 12.2 grams, in the trunk of the car.
As if it couldn’t get any worse, Duffy is currently on federal probation for a meth conviction. His charges of maufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of drugs, all Ford County counts, will probably ensure a quick trip back to the Federal Bureau of Prisons without much benefit of a fair hearing.
Information Disclosure has received since this incident indicates that Duffy’s parents, David Senior and Jackie, had been serving time in FBOP on drug-related charges; and that Jackie is now out. How this all plays into the southern Illinois drug trade, which seems to be falling apart as we speak, remains to be seen: questions such as who Duffy’s supplier was, where his ultimate destination was, who helps distribute in this area (if indeed that’s where he was heading), all remain unanswered, but we’re looking into it.
